We stayed for 2 weeks from the end of July and had our best holiday yet. Me, my husband and our 3 teenage daughters (aged 13, 17, 18) were looking for a relaxing holiday near the sea in a peaceful location. I came across Orfeas Villa and fell in love with it from the pictures. My instincts were right. This is an exceptional villa which is superbly located overlooking olive groves and the beautiful bay with Kefalonia in the distance. The balconies give stunning 180-degree panoramic views which were captivating at any time of the day but especially at sunset.
The villa was spotlessly clean and is very well-equipped with everything you might need and more. It was really useful that all cleaning products such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, hand wash and toilet roll were provided. We loved the open plan layout downstairs which kept cool during the heat of the day thanks to its thick stone walls. Upstairs, the accommodation suited our family of 5 perfectly though there were arguments over who got the bedroom with its own balcony! The whole villa is very tastefully decorated with pictures and ornaments which gives it an authentic Greek feel. The air con in the bedrooms is excellent and was useful on hot nights and the fast Wi-Fi kept everyone happy. Outside, the planting in the garden is really lovely and well laid out to give privacy when on the ground floor balcony.
We spent most of our days relaxing in the villa and visiting the very pretty, sandy Psarou beach which is an easy 5 min walk down the hill. Although this is only a small beach it was never too crowded, and we spent many happy hours here. You can snorkel and see plenty of fish in the rocky areas at the sides, and we were lucky enough to see a turtle several times by going out early and swimming out to the sea grass. The two tavernas nearby are both excellent and you can pick up most things that you need at the little shop halfway to the beach including fresh bread, ice creams and beach stuff. We also rented a car for a few days and can thoroughly recommend Porto Limnionas.
However, what really made this villa stand out for us was the exceptional hospitality shown by the owners, Fani and Loukas, who live on the basement floor. They were always available to help us and yet were very discreet. Their kindness and generosity embodied the Greek concept of ‘Xenia’ and helped us make so many special memories. We will never forget our idyllic stay at Orfeas Villa...
