Discover Brooks Lodge at Chapel Barn - an architect and interior designed award-winning extension of an 18th century flint barn within the South Downs AONB.
Nestling in a valley by the River Ouse with beautiful rural views across East Sussex countryside, Brooks Lodge is situated on a private farm estate on the outskirts of Piddinghoe village.
The property won a Sussex Heritage Award in 2013 shortly after its completion, due to its excellent execution and its dynamic contemporary contrast to the original flint barn. In 2016, 'Quality in Tourism' awarded the property a Five Star Gold Award.
The use of sympathetic but modern materials makes Brooks Lodge an extraordinary dwelling. It blends comfortably in the rural landscape due to the use of traditional materials - flint, slate and bricks. The property, whilst attached to the main dwelling, has its own private entrance and courtyard garden.
It is also certainly proof that eco-friendly does not have to mean boring - you name it, this house has it! Its clever design maximises the beautiful rural views, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and stunning terraces.
Guests have mentioned that the property has an air of calm. While the days away in the gorgeous rooms, generously proportioned with relaxing, elegant furniture. The master bedroom has French doors that open onto its own patio with table and chairs. On the first floor, a wall of large folding, sliding doors allows the kitchen to become part of the outside space.
