Great little home away from home
We stayed here for a week and loved almost everything about it. The space was a bit odd, but it worked! The living room with its table, sofa, and balcony was where we spent most of our time. The balcony is perfect for an afternoon aperitivo, or just a rest while looking at the Sassolungo. The kitchen is tiny, but if only one person is working in there, it's fine. Even with no oven, we managed to cook several meals, including dinners. The bedroom space was perfect, with lots of space to unpack for our stay. The bathrooms were also a bit odd, but with two of them - one with shower, bidet and sink; the other with toilet and sink - we each had our own space that we shared as needed!
The online photos are accurate - the church is RIGHT there and the bells ring every 15 minutes from 7:00 a.m. until 9:45 p.m. - and occasionally in between if there's something special going on! If that's an issue for you, don't stay here! But we actually started getting used to it and would use the 7:00 bells to get us up so we could get on our hikes before the crowds. The apartment is also uphill from the village and the bus stop, and parts of that up are pretty steep. After a long day of hiking, it was sometimes hard to pull ourselves up that last bit.
Santa Cristina is a great village to stay in. It's not too big and crowded like Ortisei or Selva. It has everything you could need, but also is just a short drive to the bigger villages, if necessary.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Elena was a great manager, always prompt with her replies and very helpful with advice about restaurants, etc.
This apartment is great for two people. Walking distance from everything in St. Cristina, with a small deck facing south and a wonderful view of Sassolungo, the icon of Val Gardena.
