About this property

Stunning luxury Finnish log house with panoramic views over Loch Ness.

Nestling in the hillside above Loch Ness with fabulous views, 'Log Ness' is the perfect retreat for guests looking for a rural Highland experience whilst being within reach of local amenities and the Highland capital of Inverness. Log Ness is a Finnish log house built in 2018 to a high standard with fixtures, fittings and furnishings also to a very high standard. The kitchen is particularly well equipped with a stunning Italian five-burner range, large fridge/freezer, microwave, 4-slot toaster, food processor and all the cooking utensils anyone could need. The sitting room has a beautiful vaulted ceiling with a large smart TV (operating off the cottage's Wi Fi) and a designer log burner which is completely self regulating for ease of use and creates a warm cosy environment on any cooler evenings - lovely to come back to after a long Highland walk. Every room in the house apart from the utility room to the rear has magnificent views over a huge expanse of Loch Ness and Meall Fuar-Mhonaidh, the mountain opposite. In the summer, a myriad of craft can be seen heading up and down the Loch or, with the aid of binoculars, you can pick out people walking in the mountains. There are three bedrooms, a double with its own separate door straight on to the decking (and those views!) and a further king size bedroom upstairs plus a twin room upstairs - all simply but stylishly furnished. Separating all the rooms upstairs is a large mezzanine where the best views in the house can be found with its elevated aspect and uninterrupted vistas over the surrounding area. There are two bathrooms. One is incorporated into the downstairs utility room with a shower and w.c. The other is upstairs with a large freestanding bath, separate shower and w.c. The downstairs utility also boasts a large Belfast sink, a washing machine, separate tumble drier and even a spin drier for doing quick hand washes. Outside there is a huge expanse of garden laid to lawn on the sunniest side, gravel to the other and lots of seating. Facing West, Log Ness enjoys sunshine all day in the summertime until it sets behind the mountains opposite late in the evening. Being situated in the village of Foyers means the the local pub, The Craigdarroch, is just a few minutes walk. Within a 15 minute walk guests will find the famous Falls of Foyers, the village shop, post office and ice cream emporium with the Waterfall Cafe next door. On the outskirts of Foyers Cameron's tearoom can be found and also Loch Ness Shores camp site with its gift shop and seasonal activities including boat and kayak hire and guided wildlife walks. At Foyers Pier, during the summer, there is a luxury motor boat offering Loch cruises and which can also be privately booked. Slightly further away is the iconic little town of Fort Augusts with its famous Caledonian Canal lock-gate system and, toward Inverness, the hamlet of Dores with its views almost the entire length of Loch Ness, pebble beach and the charming Dores Inn. Inverness itself is less than a half an hour drive away and the bridge to Skye approximately 2 hours. The area attracts visitors who are keen on outdoor activities both land and water based. The area is also teeming with wildlife including deer, badger, red squirrel, pine marten and many birds of prey. All these are regularly sighted in and around Foyers. Log Ness offers a very special base for the discerning visitor to this beautiful and relatively undiscovered corner of Loch Ness. Although ideally situated for touring in all directions Log Ness is so cosy it would be easy to just sit in front of the log fire or on the expansive sheltered decking enjoying the views and the birdsong!

Tranquil setting-beautiful location
We stayed for one week in this beautiful log house, which had all of the amenities that one would need. Both inside and outside very well equipped. Sian was excellent in answering my queries before we arrived. Sue the housekeeper, responded in no time when I texted her to ask where I would find an extra tea towel and bin liner. She came a short time after to get them from the locked housekeeper's cupboard-thank you Sue!

Beautiful home with amazing views of Loch Ness
We had a wonderful visit and this home was a beautiful location overlooking Loch Ness. It is in a fairly secluded location and roads can be a little tricky. We journeyed out most days to see the Highlands and at times the drive back could be a bit much. Overall, it’s a lovely home and the surroundings are beautiful. Communicating with the owner was very easy and they were very responsive. I would highly recommend Log Ness.

Hi, we are Sian and Phil and we moved to the Highlands 4 years ago. We purchased our plot overlooking Loch Ness and have built our beautiful house in its own large grounds. Originally from Wales and England respectively we moved to Scotland from Brittany in France where we also ran a holiday let for a number of years. We look forward to helping to make many happy memories for visitors to this beautiful location.

Why they chose this property

Log Ness is situated in the ever-popular village of Foyers with its amenities that include a shop and post office, two tea rooms, a pub that serves food all day. Log Ness is surrounded by wonderful countryside with endless walking opportunities and local attractions such as the Falls of Foyers, General Wade's Military Road and activities on Loch Ness itself. Although the village is only a ten minute walk away the property sits in its own generous grounds with plenty of private parking and stunning views over the Loch and the mountains opposite. There is an abundance of wildlife including birds of prey, different species of deer, badgers, pine marten and not forgetting the much-loved red squirrel. During high season there are plenty of activities either in Foyers or in Inverness or Fort Augustus including Loch cruises or fast RIB rides, canoe hire, bike hire, guided wildlife walks, archery and plenty more.

What makes this property unique

The house has views that are difficult to rival and peace and tranquility whilst being less than half an hour from Inverness in one direction and Fort Augustus in the other.
