It is set in a street of mostly medieval and Georgian houses, each with their own architectural charm, and has a private, riverside terrace which overlooks the 16th-century church and bell tower where Lord Horatio Nelson’s parents were wed. A house for all seasons, you can sit round the roaring log fire in winter, or enjoy the west-facing private terrace and gardens in summer, watching magnificent sunsets over the fields. Fishermen will delight in fishing from the holiday property’s large pretty riverside garden and patio – a rowing dinghy and two buoyancy lifejackets are even provided for river trips or picnics. Walk to the centre of the charming market square to enjoy a drink at one of the many local inns and traditional country pubs or savour a leisurely meal at one of the restaurants. A range of independent delicatessens sell epicurean speciality local produce and there is even a Victorian sporting shop. Explore all the attractions that Norfolk and Suffolk have to offer including Southwold, 15 miles, with its seafront, pier and summer theatre, or Dunwich Heath and beach. There is also RSPB Minsmere to visit, Aldeburgh with its fishing boats and local seafood, and Snape Maltings with its concert hall. Pleasurewood Hills theme park and Africa Alive are not to be missed, and children will love the treetop experience at BeWILDerwood adventure park. Shops, pubs and restaurants 300 yards.

Great house in a great location, with great walks along the river in both directions.
Great house in a great location, with great walks along the river in both directions. Close to Southwold and Aldeburgh, and within easy reach of Norwich. Pity that some pubs in Beccles still closed, as I understand it's not viable for them to open up and comply with Covid distancing guidelines. We had a very enjoyable week, and were blessed with good weather. On the downside, the house and furnishings are a bit tired, and some of the furniture needs updating. The dinghy in the garden had a leak, and despite the extra time (8 hours between check out and arrival) needed to 'deep clean' the property prior to our arrival, we found a very greasy unwashed grill tray in the oven that had been overlooked. Great location, very comfortable bed and lovely to have a view from every window.
Great location, very comfortable bed and lovely to have a view from every window. Kitchen was not particularly clean, patio area was not very tidy ( including dead seagull ) and washing m/c was dirty so decided not to use it. Garden furniture not comfortable - needs updating. Could do with a TV in the dining room. Only 6 mugs available, but plenty of plates and dishes. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Originally planned as a holiday around my son’s wedding, COVID, caused the wedding to be postponed
Originally planned as a holiday around my son’s wedding, COVID, caused the wedding to be postponed but we took the holiday anyway - me, my wife, daughter and her two sons. Glad we did. Great location. Easy access to the centre of Beccles and to walks in wide open countryside. 20 minutes to the coast. The house itself is well appointed and functional and in a town with limited parking spaces Riverside House has plenty of easy to access space. Good base for messing about on the river though book canoes etc well in advance. First holiday in Suffolk. I suspect we will be back. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
