Numerous walking trails lead from the doorstep and more can be found in the North Yorkshire Moors and by venturing east to the little-known gem of the Yorkshire Wolds. Excellent mountain biking is available at nearby Dalby Forest and Sutton Bank Trail centres. Discover Malton, 5 miles, ‘Yorkshire’s Food Capital’ with its popular food festival and myriad artisan producers and take a trip aboard the famous North York Moors Railway steam train from Pickering to the fishing port of Whitby. Enjoy the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey, and the quaint fishing villages of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, or you can visit abbey ruins at Rievaulx, Byland and Kirkham Priory.
