Beautiful House in Sencca
My boyfriend and I stayed at Yommy’s place for over a month. It was a beautiful experience to wake up to the stunning views of the hills around us, the house is located up in Sencca which is higher than Cusco, it was perfect for us as we got to spend most of our time out of the city and in nature, we still visited Cusco most days as it was so easy to do, there is a bus stop right outside the house that takes you straight to the center for 1 sol, its about 20 mins away. Yommy is a tour guide, so we went with him and his brother just behind the house to go Zip-lining and do the Tarzan Swing, it was so cool. They made sure we were safe and the experience itself was breathtaking. I would recommend talking to Yommy about any tours you are interested in. The house itself is small and cosy, it gets cold sometimes but there is a fireplace and fire wood just outside the house. The kitchen is kitted out with pots and pans, plates and glasses, as well as a blender, which we made lots of use of. There is a sun room, which gets very warm, I enjoyed doing Yoga here most mornings, there is also a cute little garden as well. we loved living in this rustic house and when we come back to Peru we hope to stay here again.

Perú style!
If you want to experience the Peru life, this place is offering a chance to live 20 minutes away by bus from busy Cusco. Buses are 30 seconds away from the house, and there is basically a bus waiting for you. Yum has been a great host. Know that sometime there is water and sometime not. There was moment without electricity, just be opened to experience it. Yom and the neighbourhood ( Kim, Silver the dog) were fun to be with.

A most excellent place to stay with a great host family!
A perfect situation for my long stay in Cusco. The Atau family were ideal hosts and always available for any situation beginning with transportation from the airport on my arrival. As a licensed tour operator and guide, Yom was an invaluable source in planning access and providing information about all the important sites in the area that are worth visiting. The guesthouse is also fantastic and fit perfectly with my needs. Very clean and spacious with a functional kitchen, a great shower and a cozy woodstove which always made for a nice way to wind down after doing touristy things in the hectic city. Yom even made sure I had plenty of kindling and firewood the whole time. Not for everyone but if you want a taste of real Peruvian local culture and a quiet spacious retreat with access to all that the Sacred Valley has to offer, this is the place to stay!

About the host

I am from Australia and married to a Peruvian, we built the guesthouse in 2012 and we are now living permanently in Cusco, Peru with our two young children. My husband is a qualified, experienced adventure tour guide, ask him all about everything to see and do in the area - he loves it! I work from home so am usually close by to assist with any questions or requests. We love meeting people from all around the globe, hearing their stories and sharing what we love about this part of the world.

Why they chose this property

We enjoy living in the community of Sencca as we believe it gives us the best of both worlds. The peace, space and neighborly familiarity of the country with access to basic groceries at the local store, but being close enough to the city to dine at nice restaurants, go to the mall, etc. We are located conveniently between the city of Cusco and Poroy train station on the way to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

What makes this property unique

Views of both the Ausangate and Salkantay mountains from the guesthouse as well as towards the city of Cusco. You can interact with the locals in the community, watch them take animals out to pasture or play soccer on Sundays. You can take serene walks at high altitude which is especially good for Andes mountain trek preparation. The wood fire heater for those cold Andean nights creates a cozy feel.
