About Folly Bridge House Manager
I am a writer and photographer and my partner is a potter. Folly Bridge House in hung with artworks and sculptures from our collection of 20th and 21st century art. These days I live just upstream from Oxford on an island in the Thames but I love coming into the city. My passion now, in this era of climate change and global inequality, is to see how far one can make something beautiful and luxurious and at the same time contribute to an environmental and fair trade ethos.

Why Folly Bridge House Manager chose Oxford
Folly Bridge House is in the extraordinary position of being in the historic centre of Oxford, close to the restaurants, the university and shops but you step through the little door in our large wooden gates and you feel in a haven of peace with the calming effect of the river flowing by, the garden and flowers and herbs, which guests are invited to pick. In a minute you are on the Thames National Path walking upstream to the ruins of the nunnery at Godstow or downstream to the Isis Pub and Iffley. You can take a boat to the ancient town of Abingdon or Gerry's Ferry to Port Meadow and the Perch and the Trout Pubs. If shopping, and cinemas and restaurants are more your thing - the new Westgate Centre is a 10 minute walk up the north bank of the river.
What makes this Studio unique
I had known Folly Bridge House for many years, and never imagined that one day one might be able to live in this historic building with view over one of the oldest parts of Oxford. At Folly Bridge House we have a Manager Housekeeper and a wonderful team of cleaners. They are regularly available to help with any queries, to offer a cleaning service if you require and to make sure the flowers are always fresh on the landings. For longer stays ie those who come for the academic term or year, there is the option of not paying if you go away (so long as you have somewhere to store your things).
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if cancelled at least 30 days before arrival date.
My stay at Folly Bridge House was perfect in every way. The warm welcome, attention to detail and cleanliness, exceptional river views, spring garden, safe bicycle storage, and location could not have been better. Checking into this historic building held the best of Oxfords charm and beauty. Combined with this wonderful atmosphere was their fantastic art collection. I can't wait to return !

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Folly Bridge House.
Thank you for your lovely review.
We very much look foreword to seeing you again.
On Folly Bridge, you are in walking distance of most of Oxford’s pleasures. For those who like to linger over their food and drink, try the Folly Restaurant for elegant riverside chic or the Head of the River for a classic Oxford pub. Both are only a short stagger home to bed. Almost all Oxford’s other restaurants, cafés and pubs are within walking distance.
For those who prefer natural life to night life, the famous River Thames National Path runs past our front door, giving beautiful walks downstream past the university boat houses and their rowing teams practicing in the early morning, to the ancient village of Iffley. Or upstream to Port Meadow, the ruined Priory at Godstow and the famous Trout and Perch Inn.
The boat hire and punt station is across the river for those who prefer more traditional Oxford pastimes. Gerry's ferry can take you to Port Meadow from our private wharf. Christchurch Meadows and the Botanical Gardens (Britain’s oldest botanical gardens) are on the other side of Folly Bridge. And if you walk south through Grandpont Nature Reserve, you will arrive in 10 minutes at Hinksey Park, with its ornamental lake, children’s playground and huge, heated outdoor pool.
It will take you 10 to 15 minutes to walk to the Sheldonian Theatre and the Playhouse. The Ashmolean Museum and Modern Art Oxford are on the way. If Oxford’s multitude of shops are, for you, its main attraction, Folly Bridge House is close enough to go mad with your credit card and still stagger home with your loot. Indeed, is a visible landmark from the roof terrace of new Westgate Centre.
