A must if you are visiting Bali
Yanti is well worth the visit in on itself. She is more than a caretaker, she cooks (best food so far in Bali), she cleans, she will take care of every need you have as far as transit and activities.
The property is nice, it has a giant pool perfect for swimming laps, although we used it for a total of 10 min. The ocean is right out the back with a great stretch of beach and a nice little stretch of coral for beginner snorkeling.
The house itself possibly could use some updates but was fine for our every need. Between laying in bed and being out in the backyard we needed nothing else. The backyard has a large table plenty of seating and a couple lounging chairs which are perfect for getting massages.
This property and Yanti make this a must when staying in Bali. We will be back.
On behalf of Yanti and myself thank you very much for your review.
Always nice to hear you enjoyed your stay.
We had a wonderful time staying at this villa. Right on the water with an 18 m shared beautiful swimming pool. Very nice patio to relax on and enjoys the views. There are nice resorts on both sides of the villa but for us, having the comfort and privacy was much nicer. You are also close to town to buy things at the grocery store or to go to restaurants. We especially enjoyed the local restaurants...inexpensive and fresh food. The bedroom had an excellent air conditioner for the night. The kitchen was pretty basic but the restaurant food is so good and doesn't cost much that we found that option to be the best. Also, Yanti, the housekeeper served us very well. We stayed here for one week.
Thanks for staying with us. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you in the future again.
great location by the sea
Perfect little house for our requirements, far removed from the fancy 5 star hotels with a more traditional feel. great service from house keeper and location is wonderful.
Dear Mrs. Jane,
Thank you very much for your review. Nice to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I will tell Yanti that you have enjoyed her service.
A wonderful place to relax and stop thinking
We stayed for 12 days and it exceeded our expectations. The view from the porch is simply stunning and relaxing. The pictures you see here are not as good as reality.
Yanti – the house manager – took great care of us and made sure we didn’t starve. – We all gained some weight, but the balinesian food, she spoiled us with, was more than worth it. If you needed a taxi, a massage, money changing, fruit etc just ask her and you will be more than satisfied – quality and price wise. She even arranged a dive master for us, with whom we did some private dives that we will never forget. Sharks, octopuses, seahorses, puffer fish.
The pool looked a bit greenish, but the water was clear and this did not distract us from using it. You can hang out in the pool and directly watch the sea.
The only little drawback was that the house is a km away from ‘down town’ Candidasa and without a motor bike cumbersome to reach (weather was very hot). With international driving license you can rent a motor bike (renting with non international license is not the issue, but the police likes to check!!) and this makes you flexible.
We had a great time and would like to come back again.
Dear Mrs. Tilly,
Thank you for your positive review. I do appreciates to hear that Yanti our house manager has done everything to make your stay enjoyable. The company wich has the task to keep the pool clean here will be held accountable. I hope to see you again in the future.
For a family of four this was a great house. I recommend it! The actual views are even better than the pictures, and the pictures aren't bad. We lived outside the entire time we were there as the grounds are beautiful. We spent time on the beach, snorkled in the protected bay, and had our breakfast and dinners on the patio.
Jan was great help with all details, and answered so many questions right up until the hours before our arrival. Once there the housekeeper was always willing to help arrange massages, dinner, tours, etc.
When we arrived the shared pool (shared with three homes) was not in swimming order as it had a lot of algae. This was disappointing to our kids, but mid-way through our stay the pool man declared it swimmable.
The beach in front of the house is quiet and pretty. The snorkeling directly in front of the house is okay-lots of fish- no coral, but right next door is a great dive center under new management. We used them for dives around Bali, and our kids snorkeled with a guide. It was so convenient right next door. There is a big hotel right next door as well should one want a taxi for a quick trip into town or to eat at their restaurant.
We really enjoyed our stay at Jan’s home.
Hi Robbie, thank you for your positive review. We hope to see you back one time.
This is a perfect retreat to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Well equipped with all you could need for a relaxing holiday the views of the islands from the beautifully maintained garden of Jan's villa are just incredible. When the going gets to hot the pool, which is shared with the 2 adjoining villas, is great for cooling down but the most amazing element of this great villa is Yanti the housekeeper. Having never stayed in a private Villa before I was a little concerned about things like arranging excursions, cooking etc. I needn't have been. Yanti is able to just make things happen at the drop of a hat. She cooked a delicious breakfast for us each morning, arranged all our visits including long distance trips to Tanah Lot and Kuta and a fantastic boat trip where we saw turtles and fish out by the islands, she arranged massages in garden and she arranged transport to and from the great local restaurants. and when we wanted to stay in at night and enjoy the views, she cooked or brought dinner from the local warungs at a fraction of the price of the restaurants. She is just fantastic and helped us to relax from the moment we arrived. Having Yanti on hand helped us to appreciate the area more, she even taught us some Bahasa Indonesia language.
Candidasa is a great little town on the East coast of Bali and is well served by great restaurants and within easy reach of the East coast sights like the stunning water gardens at Tirta Gangga and Ujung and the Bali Aga village of Tenganan where you can spend a few hours chatting with the locals and seeing how the produce the most beautiful cloth, as well as having the opportunity to buy of course. The restaurants in the town serve great quality food and great prices and many provide free taxis to and from the villa. For the best restaurants you can follow the advice on Tripadvisor or even better, just ask Yanti. A 3 course meal in a good restaurant cost us around 20-30 Euros for 2 with drinks although it is possible to spend more if you really want to splash out.
The airport is about 1 1/2 hours drive and Jan kindly arranged for our pick up and drop off within the cost of the villa. Ubud is about a 1 hour drive and with Tanah Lot being around 2 hours away. A car and driver for the day cost us around 300-350 thousand Rupiah which is about 25-30 Euros or 20 to 25 UK Sterling.
If you just want to escape from it all I can not recommend Jan's Villa more highly.
Dear family thank you for your review. We always try to do our best to offer you a great time in our villa.
Also on behalf of Yanti we hope to meet you once more in the future.
The house is right by the sea and surrounded by a beautiful garden. From the two terraces offer a magnificent view of the sea, where local fishermen morning sees come in with their catch. You can really enjoy your rest! But do you want to do sports, then this also. You can hike, swim, fish, snorkel and dive. Also trekking through the rice fields is a well sought after opportunity here.
The famous Bali Aga village Tenganan'ligt just 3 km from the villa. This is the only place in Southeast Asia where double ikat fabric is woven. You can still testify here ..
Tirtaganga is the best example of Bali's royal water palaces. This is only a half hour of Candi Dasa. Amlapura is the nearest large town being significant. Here you can shop and visit the daily local market.
Candi Dasa has many fine restaurants. With a variance to many local and world cuisine.
The specialty of the region's bebek betutu, with herbs and spices cooked succulent duck. Most restaurants offer a free taxi pick-up and return if you plan to dine with them.
With an international driving a car or moped / scooter rentals. Local transport (Bemo) runs with regularity size. The taxi is cheap in Bali
