Rural Property Complaint
My wife and I booked this rural. peaceful property for the week of 'Firework Night' because our pet dog is frightened of the noise of fireworks and loud bangs. We booked the holiday for the full week from Sunday 30th October to Sunday 6th November to avoid the weeklong noise of fireworks, which are going off all week in the area where we live. Our dog 'Poppy' is very frightened, shakes, pants and is very upset by these noises. The summary/description of Bede Cottage said it was "situated in a peaceful location in the heart of the beautiful and unspoilt North Northumbrian countryside. ", this is why we chose it. On the second day, Monday, we visited Bamburgh and then we ventured back to the cottage around 2.30ish for some lunch, we had just settled down in the cottage when there was loud gunshot sounds from the rear of the cottage. To our dismay there was a large shooting party in the field adjacent to the rear garden!!!! Our dog was terrified. There was no warning of this event happening either in the site description or the visitor folder in the cottage!!! Had we known of this we would not have booked this cottage! We had to leave the cottage in a hurry again to calm our dog down. We spoke to the next-door neighbour (he lives in Cuthbert Cottage) on our return and even he said there should have been warnings about the shooting and that it was the season for it. We asked if there would be any more and he said there may be another shoot on Wed or Thurs!!! (The neighbour will confirm this). The neighbour told us later that there would be no more shooting during the week until the following week but again this was not true! On his advice we arrived back early on the Friday, again around 2ish and again there were 2 men shooting in the rear field again we had to take action for our dog! We had to make sure we were out from10am till 3.30ish (dusk) every day! We felt harassed to be out of the cottage. The whole episode defeated the reason why we went on this break!!!! We want our money back as the description of 'peaceful' was not true and above events ruined our stay. We look forward to your reply.

A reinvigorating retreat
What an amazing stay, a retreat we were able to escape back to from our social engagements. Clean comfortable and an absolute pleasure to come back to the nearby village of Belford is beautiful and friendly. You will need a car as you will be in beautiful isolated countryside
