Excellent facilities, lovely bed linen, great beds.

  • 5 of 5

A really comfortable house, lovely and warm in a convenient position for lots of activities. Great things for kids too. A map for getting there would have been useful as our satnav didn't work and it was dark. Thank you very much.

Stunning scenery & relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the south wing, there were 6 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs. We celebrated my dads 70th birthday (as a surprise). We found the south wing to be very clean and very spacious, the kitchen was well equipped. The park was just over the road from us which was grately appreciate by the children and the petting farm was just behind us which the children loved too.

The staff are friendly and very helpful.

My dad loved his surprise and we would all like to come back for longer next year.

Outstanding for a reunion stay

  • 5 of 5

We chose this because we were travelling from Canada with family (6 of us) and meeting up with other family and friends for a reunion before heading to Germany for a wedding. We stayed in Elliot House and also had The Dairy which gave up 6 bedrooms overall. With a private courtyard and hot tub it was a perfect spot for our get-together. We loved the ensuite bathrooms in Elliot House so each couple had privacy. The beds were comfortable with good pillows and bedding. The complex has numerous apartments and most were occupied over the Bank Holiday weekend, but it was very quiet and we barely noticed other guests. We had 6 children with us at one point and they loved the children's play park and more specially, the 'farm' area with sheep, ducks, hens, peacocks and meerkats. On the Saturday of our stay Farmer Vic entertianed the children with an hour feeding the animals and telling them all about the various species. That ended up with them collecting eggs which they had for breakfast the next morning.

We try to get across to the UK once a year to see our family and this may be our go-to accommodation from here on.

As far as the booking process is concerned I'd far prefer to communicate directly with an owner rather than through the Home Away portal which is cumbersome and feels less personal. On this occasion there was no choice but we did find the owner's own website and got more information from there. Vic has so much opportunity to capitalise on his website and create a great home base to describe the area in more detail.

We enjoyed local pubs - The Shoulder of Mutton is a 3 minute drive; the outlet shopping centre (15minutes); a big supermarket (5 minutes); and Shipley Park (20 minutes).

Thank you Vic Fell and your team for making our stay memorable and a real pleasure for our family reunion.

A wonderful place for 8 - 95 year olds.

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful location for a mixed age group like ours - youngest 8; oldest 95! Dog also made very welcome. Meet the animals with Farmer Vic was a highlight and the children's playground a God send. Bedrooms amazing - beds super comfortable; most with en suite and TVs - got to watch all the Olympic action and Sky package appreciated by Chelsea supporter. A downstairs loo would have made it perfect.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Southwing farmhouse for 3 nights for a 50th birthday family celebration. Every single member of the group had an amazing time and we couldn't fault the accommodation in any way. It was just perfect for our family get together, from the location and beautiful house to the fantastic children's play area and opportunity to feed the animals with Farmer Vic. Vic was so hospitable and we would love to return next year. We really didn't want to go home. If you didn't want to venture out, there's everything you need at the farmhouse. My little toddler absolutely loved the play and picnic area and we found the accommodation so relaxing and settling so tranquil. Thank you, Vic and your team. Our stay was idyllic and just what we all needed.

Beautiful place and lovely surroundings

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Our whole weekend was so lovely and we didn't have to get in the car to find somewhere to amuse the kids once.

Walking into the south wing cottage it is so well decorated. Upstairs is amazing such brilliant sized rooms and plenty of space for us all. Unfortunately downstairs was a little disappointing as there was 8 adults and 7 kids so the kitchen Became abit of a squeeze from time to time. But with such great weather it wasn't so much of a problem.

Being right on the farm is great. Across the way is a field with a play park which the kids played on the whole weekend. This meant the parents could just relax and. The best part about our weekend was meeting farmer Vic. He walks the kids all round the field feeding the animals and telling them about them. The kids loved picking their own eggs from the hutches and they especially loved eating them the next morning.

Overall it was a great weekend spent here and one we are thinking about doing again next year. Rachel and Vic couldn't do enough for you. Fantastic place, Thankyou :-)
