The cabins may be booked together or separately but preference is given to group bookings. The tariffs listed below are for both cabins booked together. For single cabin tariffs please contact the owners. The Acacia Cabin sleeps 8 and has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The Stringybark Cabin sleeps 6 and has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a laundry with toilet. A floor plan of the cabins is found in the image gallery.

Yellowbox Cabins are conveniently situated 20 minutes from Oberon and 30 minutes from Bathurst.. Oberon has all the essentials you might need for your holiday with 2 supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, clubs, galleries, tennis courts, and a swimming pool. Bathurst, being a regional centre, has more shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs and services and of course the Mount Panorama race track for motor enthusiasts. There are also lots of small villages in the area that are fun to investigate such as O'Connell, Tarana and Black Springs.

Local Attractions

The cabins are very close to 2 of Australia's most famous tourist attractions - the Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves. Both are within easy reach - 45 mins to the Caves and 1hour 20 mins to Katoomba by car. The Kanangra Boyd National Park is also close by as are the ZigZag Railway, Abercrombie and Wombeyan Caves. Outdoor activities popular in the area include fishing, golfing, fossicking, hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. When you are exhausted from all these physical pursuits it is wonderful to come back to the warmth and comfort of the Yellowbox Cabins and simply put your feet up and relax with a glass of wine and take in the wonderful surroundings.

Remotely beautiful

  • 4 of 5

Booked at the last minute for a family getaway with 6 adults and 5 pre schoolers. Sounds like mayhem but this place was perfect for a big group. Kids loved seeing kangaroos and sheep on the property and the pet cat was unexpected but loved by our kids.

Make sure you visit Mayfield gardens while you’re here and don’t miss the melting moments! Oh and the long arm farm cafe in Oberon for all things Truffle. Great trip!

Absolutely Magical

  • 5 of 5

Had an absolute blast and perfect location with top notch views! Lucky enough to watch it snow - can’t put into words how beautiful the landscape really is! Got a pleasant surprise by the cat (whom we named Ralph) - Ralph was good company. Would 100% come again in the future!

July stay

  • 1 of 5

We left the property 4 days ago and still haven't received the bond back which has me a bit concerned as it was left in a good condition so beware of that. Other than this, it was a lovely stay.

Owner's Response: Make that 5 days and counting. We were accused of damaging the property (a cupboard apparently). We are dumbfounded by this accusation so beware of that and check the entire premises before agreeing to stay or the owners may pin an existing repair on your bill as they did with us. The Stringybark cottage fireplace does not work properly. The firetrap hadnt been cleaned since last Winter, it was filthy, but even this didnt improve the situation. Some of the lights dont work, not a concern until you are wandering around in the dark. Not only do they not supply towels (which we brought) but they do not supply soaps for the baths and showers so bring your own. Mostly though, beware of the bond and check everything before agreeing to stay. We were also told that the owners are "tight a****" with the firewood so dont use over your quota!

Excellent value for money

  • 4 of 5

Amaing views with spacious living area. Very comfortable. Good for groups of friends or families. Only problem we had with the property was that it was a little difficult to get to.
