My wife and I grew up in North Carolina and have lived in New Orleans since 1980. We continue to enjoy our journey through life having been married for 47 wonderful years. Our son is married and lives in London, England. North Carolina is the home of our daughter, son-in-law and our two granddaughters. We enjoy working with real-estate, traveling, hunting and fishing.
Neil C. Cagle purchased this house in 2008
Deborah Ann was purchased with the intent to update and re-sale. But within a few days, we fell in love with the location and decided to keep it for ourselves and intermittently share it with others. Thanks to those that utilize VRBO, Homeaway, Rojas Fishing Charters and other locals, it has become a 'home away from home' for us and others.
Located on the Isle of Barataria, Deborah Ann offers all the comforts of home and is a perfect get-away place to experience southern living on the bayou however you want to spend it.
Peace and tranquility for rest and relaxation, fishing, golfing, sightseeing, meetings and conferences, sports events, festivals or just a vacation to the New Orleans area.
You will enjoy the comfort of a 'home' - not a hotel room!!
We certainly hope to stay again soon. We thoroughly enjoyed .
“Great, clean, well-maintained coastal home with all the amenities you need for a home away from home. Perfect for those who like to fish, as we do, but great just to hang out and relax. Neil really tries to make your stay the best possible. This was just what the doctor ordered for us-relaxation, and we caught plenty of fish. We hope to go back soon.”
Feel free to use it and Merry Christmas to ya’ll as well.
Very homey house - comfortable - clean - just like pics. Owner very responsive and accommodating.
Our biggest takeaway was just how special this part of the country is. Everyone we met - in stores - restaurants - everywhere was so incredibly welcoming and friendly. Ray and Missy at Cochiara's ! Janet at Voleos *best steak with shrimp and crawfish sauce I have ever tasted in my life. Janet's brother is the chef and he worked for K Pauls ! How special is that to get gourmet food at a reasonable cost! We ate there everyday it was so good.
Colby who was our fish guide out of Big Dog - the absolute best - and cruising through the bayous on a warm and sunny day was close to heaven! Susan - with Big Dog - so friendly and nice ! All that said, we probably didn't do our homework enough - this is basically a fishing destination. If you don't have a boat or enough money to fish ($500/day) - there is not much to do. We did the swamp tour - but save your money if you fish - you pretty much see the same thing. But if you just want to totally unwind - and sit a read - just perfect. Only complaint for us - not a single news channel on the cable. No CNN - MSNBC nor Fox. Some board games would have been nice on the rainy day we had - if you rent - remember to pack ! And just enjoy this wonderful slice of Americana !! It is truly a special place.
Very accommodating host.
Very clean and well stocked kitchen.
Pictures do not do it justice.
There is only one way to enter and exit the property via drawbridge, which somewhat affected our daily commute to Mardi Gras festivities. But it was nice to get away from the action and return home to a relaxing, quiet environment. I highly recommend this property, & Will definitely reserve this location again! The fish were basically jumping out of the water wanting to be caught & the neighbors were friendly. The home was very nice & clean & up to date, the pictures listed does it no justice. It easily sleeps 7 comfortably. Thanks for your hospitality Mr Neil, we will see you again soon!
Wonderful, well appointed, exceptionally clean vacation home. Close to New Orleans and far enough to relax and fish in your own private setting.
This place is a gem! Can't wait to come back.
Everything about the house was as advertised. Clean and well maintained. Excellent service and would recommend it to all. The home was a relaxing place to be after long days of sightseeing in New Orleans and the surrounding areas. What cannot be adequately described is how nice the people of the neighborhood and the owners were to us. Doug next door loaned us fishing poles and gave us some trout to try! Several other neighbors talked with us and gave advice on places to go and eat. The local folks at restaurants and attractions were very kind and we will always remember our time spent fondly. We"re looking forward to visiting again in the future. We had a wonderful time and wouldn't change a thing!!!!! The Schnabel family - Buffalo, NY
Perfect house on the water. Left the boat docked all week and was able to hop in for a boat ride 24/7 without loading or unloading. Speckled trout heaven! Highly recommended....5 Stars
