About Alistair Rowe
We have all grown up in Ararat which is about 40 minutes away from Halls Gap and the Grampians National Park. School days included completing the Duke of Edinburgh silver award that included hiking through the Grampians in year 11. We have spent many a school holiday since with our own kids and families exploring the Grampians.
Alistair Rowe purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Alistair Rowe chose Halls Gap
We have been providing quality, affordable accommodation since 2004. We saw the house as an opportunity to allow others to stay to appreciate everything Halls Gap and the Grampians has to offer.
What makes this Cottage unique
One of the major walks in the Grampians National Park is called the Pinnacle. One of Cathedral Height's great features is to sit on the lounge in the living room and see the pinnacle from the cathedral window. You can walk the Pinnacle during the day, come home to a spa bath and sit and reflect on a great days walk with a beer or wine.

Fantastic property and communication
Cathedral heights is in a stunning location, with beautiful views. The house is spotless and cosy.
Easy access to all Grampians attractions. Visiting birds are beautiful.
Ali and Rose were the most flexible, helpful and understanding hosts. They offered fantastic communication and assistance when required.
I will definitely be back.
Thank you so much for a lovely quiet place to escape. Everything we needed was there or a short drive into town to get. It allowed us to explore or relax depending on which family member you ask. Property was clean and tidy with two toilets! A massive bonus. We were visited by some rambunctious cockatoos as well as a couple of friendly kookaburras and other native birds too. Overall we had a great stay.
Perfect for a cosy weekend .
Thoroughly enjoyed our couple nights here. Very comfortable and well equipped. Great natural surroundings and a very impressive view through the roof top windows.
Great short break
Quite place in natural bush. Well set up with good views in the house to the surrounding mountains.
Comfortable stay in a great location
We had a lovely week at Cathedral Heights. The location was fabulous, with a gentle stroll in to town. Wood heater, electric blankets, split system, dishwasher and laundry facilities ensured we were comfortable.
Small glitches addressed promptly by the owner.
We enjoyed our stay but
Overall, we had a lovely experience staying at this cottage with the family. The property was very clean and it's a cute vintage looking house. However, the downsides were that, the hot water is simply not enough for 6 people. It was a bit disappointing when the hot water ran out after using the spa bath just once! I know we were told about the limitations but I would happily pay more if all of us could enjoy the hot spa bath! Plus, the foot operated rubbish bin at the kitchen was broken and needs replacement! It was uncomfortable having to bend down to open it by hand every time. If not for these reasons, It's definitely a five star from me!!
It's great to hear we received a 4 star rating. The hot water service holds 400 litres which is usually big enough to cater for 6 guests. Recently we received a complaint the hot water service was too hot so we installed a new one that complies with current regulations (which means it is not as hot as it used to be). Guests now need to get the mix right with hot and cold water. If the spa has too much cold then no amount of hot water will heat the water to what the guests may want.
