About Ian & Lauris Grose
We built this lovely house for our retirement but for family reasons that was not possible. The family and our friends used the house for holidays for years, but In 2004 we decided to rent the house for holiday accommodation and have many return visitors who just can't wait to come back.
Ian & Lauris Grose purchased this Cottage in 1984
Why Ian & Lauris Grose chose Ocean Beach
We discovered the Great Southern district many years ago and our family always thought of Denmark as the gem of the district. The charming little town set on the gentle, scenic Denmark river, the combination of karri forest, the wildness of the Southern ocean and the craggy cliffs along the shoreline just captured our hearts, We can't stay away.
What makes this Cottage unique
We built The Coombe on an acre of land, heavily treed with karri and redgums on the edge of Wilson Inlet. The combination of all these elements made it ideal to create a home that sits so well into its environment. Turning into the winding driveway you immediately see the water through the trees, and walking through the front door into the house is a revelation with stunning views all around through the walls of glass. How could you not love it

Wonderful view over the inlet with colourful birdlife. Very comfortable and well appointed. Great deck to have brekky on and take in surrounds. Well placed between Ocean Beach and the town. We always love coming to Denmark!
What a relaxing house! You wouldn't want to leave.
The view was fantastic. Owner Lauris is so easy to talked to and very thoughtful. The sofa is little old, but that doesn't bother us at all. Beds are very comfy and everything you need for the stay is provided (towel, linen, toiletries, cooking ware and condiment, even nespresso machine and pods).
There is just 5 mins walk to the inlet. and less than 10 mins drive to town centre. Feeding birds was such a joy in the morning and evenings.
We extend for extra day because we didn't want to leave.
Thanks Lauris and Ian for your hospitality. Will come and stay again.
Dear Di, It was a pleasure to be able to accommodate you for the extra night, we are delighted that you and your parents enjoyed your stay. It was such a shame your father had that painful accident and I hope the drive home was not too uncomfortable for him. We look forward to you holidaying at "The Coombe" again, return visitors have chocolates as well as wine waiting for them on arrival. Best wishes, Lauris and Ian
Delightful property BUT with a caveat
A delightful property with sweeping inlet views. But be aware that the Rental Contract does not provide the Terms and Conditions, nor is there an in-house guest information booklet, both of which, in our case, led to a most unpleasant event that marred our experience.
Dear Alan, I know you enjoyed your week at "The Coombe" but it was very distressing that you had an unpleasant finale. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with joy, happiness and much laughter. Ian and Lauris Grose
Lovely relaxing stay. Few things could be improved but all in all a great stay!
Dear Traccey, Thank you for your guest review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. If you are ever able to return there will be more wine and goodies for a stay of 3 nights or longer. Best wishes, Ian and Lauris Grose.
Nice Location and excellent veiws. Nice greeting on arival from Lady across the road.
Wonderful and relaxing
It was our second holiday at "The Coombe" and it was everything we remembered from the first stay. Peaceful and calming, shady, fresh air and breezes from the inlet. A wonderful water and tree view, birds feeding and chirping. Comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen that includes essentials such as herbs, spices and condiments. We hope to experience "The Coombe" again soon.
Barry, thank you for taking the time and trouble to post a review of "The Coombe". It is such an excellent review and it is reassuring to know you enjoyed your second stay as much as the first. Every best wish, Lauris
