About Alistair Rowe
We have been providing accommodation for guests to enjoy Halls Gap and the Grampians National Park since 2004 at the Halls Gap Hideaway. We all live in Ararat which is about 40 minutes away from Halls Gap.
Alistair Rowe purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Alistair Rowe chose Halls Gap
The Hideaway is a unique style of accommodation, designed by the recently departed Rieny Loeliger. These RAL homes were exported across the world.
What makes this Cottage unique
The Hideaway is set in a secluded location with the Grampians National Park at the back door. Sit on the balcony any enjoy the birdlife that may visit, and the occasional kangaroos lazing about.

My mother and I greatly needed the solitude and beauty of the Grampians and we quickly made Alisrair's little 'tree house' our home away from home. It's not a tree house but the aspect of the property makes it feel this way.
The back of the house is ideal for birdwatching. The tiny spotted pardelote, wrens and white eared honey eaters were very special to spend time with and we also shared some time with a red breasted robin in the bush yesterday.
The admirable power of nature and the mind boggling beauty that we are surrounded with here reminds us of why all humans should be fighting for mother nature ... not toilet paper.
I'd recommend the place to anyone.
Fantastic great place for a weekend getaway
Everything was perfect,
Great to hear from another guest who enjoyed their time at Halls Gap Hideaway
Every thing is perfect. However outside of house's view is very different.
Lovely setting. The wildlife was great. Some maintenance is needed. Cant lock wire doors. Bathroom was filthy with mould and grime in the shower, mould around the bath tiles, dust on tv, spiderwebs all over the ceilings. The stereo didnt work and the remote is melted. Rubbish under the couch. No cover on back of tv remote. Light covers missing on lounge wall. Clock battery flat. Blown globe in down light in bathroom. Broken glassware found in cupboard.
It is unfortunate that we may not have met the expectations of the guests who stayed. We are addressing the maintenance and issues raised. Guests are supposed to advise if there has been any damage during their stay. It appears previous guest has left a remote control on the wood heater - plastic and heat do not mix. I invite prospective guests to look at all reviews to get a balanced opinion on what we offer.
Halls Gap getaway
Average presentation for the price, tired and dated fittings spoiled first impression. Great surroundings and wildlife.
