Osprey is set in quiet bushland beside the ocean. Koalas are often seen in the estate and sometimes visit the trees beside our deck. The amazing grass trees on our property attract many birds and are a feature around which the house was designed.
The Camden Haven area has so much to offer. The many waterways include lakes, rivers, beaches and lagoons in which all types of water activities may be enjoyed. Pilot Beach, just a 2 minute drive from Osprey, is great for children with calm waters and a lovely playground and picnic area. Coastal, mountain, bush and beach walking provide wonderful opportunities for observing nature and for photography. Numerous cafes and restaurants provide diners with a wide choice of international and local cuisine. A fish co-op offers a range of freshly caught local seafood. Several wineries are only a short drive away. The local cinema is charming and has the latest movies. Nearby Dooragan National Park affords splendid views from the top of North Brother Mountain. Crowdy Bay National Park, just south of Dunbogan, has some beautiful coastal walking tracks along with friendly kangaroos and pristine beaches.
While Dunbogan is a quiet village where you can escape the busy city life, Port Macquarie is a half hour drive away and has an entertainment centre, The Glass House, which hosts performances of world renown. Whale watching tours, learn to surf schools, scenic flights and camel rides can all be enjoyed from here, and a visit to the Koala Hospital is worthwhile. The rainforest at the small Sea Acres Nature Reserve near Shelley Beach has a raised boardwalk through the rainforest and a great café amongst the trees.
Billabong Wildlife Park is a hit with children and is on the way to the charming town of Wauchope. A water park is a little further north, on the exit to Telegraph Point.
Heading south, you can explore the beautiful Hannam Vale valley, The Cattai Wetlands (Friday to Sunday), Harrington and enjoy the views from Crowdy Head.
