About Anne & Greg Edmistone
My husband Greg and I bought Lyrebird Ridge when our two children became teenagers. We moved to the Shoalhaven in 1990 when Greg was posted to the Navy base, HMAS Albatross.I have worked in the area as a primary school teacher for many years but recently took a break from teaching so I could work on projects around the farm and vineyard.
Anne & Greg Edmistone purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why Anne & Greg Edmistone chose Budgong
From the first time we came to this property we felt at home. We loved the feeling of isolation, even though it is so close to Kangaroo Valley and Nowra and we were attracted by the simplicity and self- sufficiency of the place - tank water, solar power, vineyard, chickens. We were happy to be challenged by a change in lifestyle for both us and the children.
What makes this Cottage unique
Sharing our place with guests is wonderful because there are so many interesting things to see and do. There is always various wildlife coming and going, things to learn, to make and grow and jobs to tackle. I love having people join in if they want but if you just want to kick back and relax then I will just point you in the direction of the hammock and leave you to it. We hope when people stay with us they feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable. We also hope that the ability to step away from phones, TV, internet or just the radio for a few days helps them to reconnect with nature and with each other. What we first loved about the place is what we always keep in mind ' Keep it simple'.

Highly recommend Lyrebird winery!!!
My wife and I had an amazing stay at Lyrebird Winery this weekend. The property is truly pet friendly. Our bouncy border collie loved her new friends and was completely pooped at the end of each day. The brand new accommodation was absolutely lovely and sitting in front of the wood fire each night lulled us to sleep early. Highly recommend, we’ll be back again
Thanks Matt for your review of our property and accommodation. We have been pet friendly accommodation for a very long time and our two dogs are always excited to have someone new to play with .
The wood fire has been getting lots of use this winter and certainly makes for a cosy night in. We would love for you to come back again soon.
Great time out
We loved the fire place. If you need to rest up from your busy lives this is the place to go to.The host Ann was lovely and very helpfull
You were here for some pretty chilly winter weather and I am glad to hear you enjoyed the fireplace in your room. I hope you can enjoy a longer stay next time .
A peaceful place to unwind and relax. We loved it!
Very pretty and relaxing
We had such a wonderful night at Lyrebird Ridge, Anne was a very generous host and very sweet with our son. Such a beautiful setting, very clean and comfortable, we loved feeding the chooks, hearing about the wine making, sitting around the fire pit and Rosie and Molly are just the most beautiful dogs. It was all too short and we will definitely return for another stay. Thank you Anne. Louise, Nick and Ed
An overnight stay can sometimes feel just that little bit too short but you certainly made the most of the time you had with us. The cool weather is perfect for getting the firepit going and toasting marshmallows. I will look forward to having you stay again sometime soon.
A wonderful escape!
Anne’s property was amazing. She was a very welcoming and accommodating host. There was plenty to do and see on the property and so close to Berry, Nowra and Kangaroo Valley. We loved our stay
Thanks Kate. We enjoyed having you stay with us for the one night and so glad you enjoyed the property.
Cosy b&b great for families!
Thank you Anne for sharing your lovely farm with us, we had a great last minute stay. My young toddler age daughters loved feeding the chickens, checking for eggs, playing with the beautiful dogs Rosie and Molly and exploring the property. Anne is so generous with her time and is so lovely with kids, showing them all the things that kids loved to see. There is no Wi-Fi or phone reception but it was nice to get away from it all, we really did feel like we were in the middle of nature... next time I might need to bring a wiggles DVD though! Thanks again we'll be back!
It is surprising to feel so tucked away in the bush even though we are really quite close to Kangaroo Valley, Nowra and Berry. Having no connection to technology helps to make you get out and about on the farm/ vineyard and it was wonderful spending time with you and your girls. The bit of windy weather did mean a bit more time in the room so I will make sure there is a Wiggles DVD ready next time you come as the 1- 3 year olds may have been overlooked in my DVD library.I hope to see you again soon.
