About Melissa McGleenan

Originally from Bathurst NSW, moved to Tasmania 2005, love the cooler weather and beautiful surroundings.

Favourite things- children, grandchildren, gardening, cooking and travelling.

Melissa McGleenan purchased this house in 1997

Why Melissa McGleenan chose West Kentish

During a trip to Tassie in 1997 discovered this property by chance, fell in love with it, built the house in 2000 and used it as a family holiday house until 2005 when we decided to move here permanently.

We have been offering the house as a holiday rental since 2005 and I have had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world.

What makes this house unique

I have a great love of European architecture. especially rustic farmhouses and Tasmania is the perfect climate to build in that style.

The walls are thick and rendered, keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter, the views are beautiful from every window. I wanted to create a family home where everyone gathers in the kitchen and sits together at the long lunch table to laugh and unwind. It seems to have been successful, our guests always want to take that table home! The rotunda is also a special space, over the top in red and gold, it makes a relaxing place for the adults.

Thank you so much to Melissa and Peter, whom were amazing hosts. Everything from making the booking, to checking in and out was exceptionally easy. The house was truly amazing and spotlessly clean. My family and I could have stayed for ever. I would highly recommend Kentisbury Country House to anybody seeking elegance and a luxury stay, fond regards Carol, Sean and Cate

Perfect country retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week at Kentisbury House. It was a wonderful week. Melissa and Pete were warm and welcoming hosts. The house had the appearance and ambience of a Tuscan villa . It was the perfect location to explore the countryside, including Cradle Mountain, and also the picturesque Bass Strait Coastline. We would define recommend to friends and family; and look forward to returning in the future.

Excellent property

  • 5 of 5

This property was wonderfully located - very secluded and in quiet location. My 4 year old daughter loved walking around the garden with all the fruit trees. Cradle mountain is only about 45 mins away so its a great location. Sheffield is also close by where there is an excellent Coffee and Fudge shop! The house its self is beautiful and very well catered for your every need! we loved sitting in the rotunda every evening with a glass of wine looking at the gorgeous view. Melissa was very welcoming and we loved our stay here.
