Referred to as the 'spa centre of Victoria' Daylesford and Hepburn Springs are real favourites for weekend getaways - even if you don't indulge in a spa treatment, there are plenty of beautiful walks, a fabulous foodie scene and a relaxed, irresistible arty vibe.
Lake Daylesford is one of our most loved landmarks, a haven for local bird life and a place for everyone of all ages to relax, enjoy a picnic, take a scenic walk on recently upgraded board walk and pathways and enjoy the views with refreshments from the Boat House or Splinters Cafe. Explore our mineral water springs, the closest pumps situated in the Central Springs of Lake Daylesford or Wombat Flat on the other side of the lake. Historically Lake Daylesford yielded early wealth to miners who dredged over a tonne of gold from the valley which became our lake in the mid 1930s. Lake Daylesford Cottage dates from this early gold mining period, a miners cottage on the old road to Ballarat - now Leggatt Street, and the old two storey coach house opposite a former hotel, drapery and supplier of miners tools and equipment.
Find your own treasure at the Sunday Market, historical site of Daylesford Spa Country Railway - a bustling market of both bric-a-brack and farm fresh produce.
Find tranquility, fresh air, birdsong and the beautiful vistas of Lavandula in Shepherds Flat - at its heart the golden rustica stone farm buildings constructed by Italians from the Swiss border who came looking for gold over 150 years ago and stayed to farm.
Find an enchanting cafe in the Botanic Gardens - Wombat Hill House a favorite with fresh bread bake - Friday to Mondays, seasonal menus, kitchen garden and puppy pampering.
Find exceptional plants propagated by Friends of Wombat Hill Gardens; find a spiritual place at the beautiful Convent Gallery, amazing views and best fresh scones in town.
Find time to shop, sip great coffee and watch the world go by. Loving this town
About Rodney Robinson
Daylesford used to be our Melbourne escape and we wanted the weekends to get longer, eventually we gave away the city traffic for fresh air, lake views and no traffic lights. Our village is stylish, vibrant and welcoming - I love golf at Hepburn Springs and my wife Denise gets creative as floral stylist to Lake House.

What makes this Cottage unique
In Leggatt Street on our side of the lake there are only a handful of properties for rental, right in the middle of the action - walks, views, water, the morning sunrise a gift - where else would you want to be?
