- This house has a recently tuned piano for music lovers. Being in a private & secluded location it is possible to practice without disturbing anybody. Ask a questionAbout Margaret Moore
I grew up in rural Gippsland and in my 20's, 30's and 40's travelled and worked in numerous different countries including Europe, North Africa and USA. Having done all the travelling I ever want to I was looking to secure a regional property for holidays and eventually retire. I stay at Moore House about once a month and take holidays there when possible. I revel in the secluded nature of the house and land and often take in and agist rescue horses free of charge.
Margaret Moore purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Margaret Moore chose Piries
I was attracted to this property as it has several acres of land surrounding the house and a spacious, private garden offering numerous quiet places to sit and read and enjoy the expansive country views. Moore House isn't visible from the road and is peaceful and quiet except for the inescapable sounds of nature - frogs, birds and cattle.
What makes this Cottage unique
In winter this is a cosy , well appointed cottage close to the snow fields offering affordable self catering accommodation below the snow line. The wood-fired Coonara which is generously supplied with chopped kindling and firewood adds a warm glow to the living room. In spring, summer and autumn this is the perfect tranquil setting for a city escape. You can dine alfresco or sit and read and relax on the front deck, watch the water birds come and go and gaze endlessly at the uninterrupted views of the surrounding hills, bush and farmland. Swing in a hammock and read a book in the dappled shade of the cool cottonwoods. There's even a side table for a tea tray. On hot days enjoy a secluded outdoor shower with water heated by the sun and a view out over the creek and the weeping willows. Try it under the stars on a night when the moon is full! If you are quiet wombats, wallabies, hare and even kangaroos may visit the garden. Cattle are about and will curiously watch you to see if any food is forthcoming.
