Fantastic family beach house!!

  • 5 of 5

The things we loved about Swansea House: Great position, fantastic view, really good fire & wood (important for winter holiday), comfy beds, fenced yard - perfect for dogs, quaint retro bathroom & kitchen, stunning deck. Always somewhere pleasant to sit playing games or reading, all times of day. Good variety of board games. Close to cafes and IGA. Best holiday house ever!!!

Delightful stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved our stay and would like to have stayed longer. The location was brilliant, right in the centre of town so we walked everywhere. We used it as a base to do day trips which worked really well. The house has a lovely atmosphere. The main rooms feel very fresh and are beautifully decorated. The kitchen was small but very well equipped to cook in. We loved sitting out on the deck enjoying the sea and country views.

The location of the property is great. However, we felt that the property itself wasn't really in line with what the photos on the site suggested. The bathroom and kitchen were very dated and overall, the property could do with a proper clean.

Room for improvement

  • 3 of 5

Good location for the beach and local services as well as access for visiting places of interest. The house was clean however there were 2 major disappointments. Both the kitchen and bathroom badly need updating. The kitchen is very old, small and cramped; the toilet is behind the door in the bathroom and the shower is over an old and badly stained bath. As a consequence, we definitely would not recommend this property for a family or group of more than 2 people.

Owner's Response: Swansea House is our family holiday house and we stay here in small and large groups. Whilst the bathroom is not modern and the kitchen is small, we love the relaxed charm of the house. Each year we improve the house in some way and 2016 saw brand new windows in the living area and doors to the deck. We make improvements over time to make it affordable for ourselves but also to keep the price affordable for our guests which is reflected in the inexpensive nightly price. In 2017 we plan to make improvements to the bathroom. The toilet may still be behind a door however I'm guessing most guests will appreciate that!!
