Madora Retreat is a free-standing brick and tile home facing north/south in a large, reticulated garden. The back garden is fully fenced and safe for small children. There is off-road parking in an attached carport plus extra parking for a boat or caravan..
There are three bedrooms, a spacious lounge, a dining room complete with pot belly fire, fully fitted kitchen, laundry, bathroom, two toilets and an enclosed sunroom. Two bedrooms sleep two in single beds and the main bedroom has a queen bed. The bedrooms feature bedside lamps, comfortable mattresses, all bedding and storage and hanging space.
The kitchen has Caesar stone benchtops, a rangehood and is fitted with a ceramic hob, oven, microwave and fridge. All cooking and oven utensils are supplied along with a kettle, toaster, sandwich maker and electric mixer.
The lounge has comfortable sofas, a flat screen TV, DVD, CD player and coffee table. Movies, books and board games are on hand. The living/dining area seats 6 and features a pot belly fire. Wood is supplied. The laundry is fitted with an automatic washing machine and dryer. An iron and board are supplied.
There are two toilets, one in the bathroom. The bathroom has a vanity, shower and toilet. All towels are supplied. A first aid box and hair dryer are available.
A spacious, fully enclosed sunroom provides extra dining options in the form of a large wooden dining table and a leisure area. Outdoor furniture, including a sun lounge and umbrella, is supplied and there is a gas barbecue on the patio area.
A high chair and portable cot together with cot mattress and sheets are available.
The large, grassed backyard is fully enclosed making it suitable for pets and small children. In the garden there is an outdoor shower with both hot and cold water. A large, free standing umbrella offers shade for outside dining on a paved patio. Off road and undercover parking is provided.
Three nights minimum stay and six nights during school holidays.
All linen, towels, tea towels, bathmats, doonas and extra blankets are provided.
The house is reverse cycle air-conditioned and fitted with wifi. It is a clean, light, airy and easy care house ideal for families or small groups. It is conveniently located close to the beach and shopping. Information on all the local attractions complete with maps is to be found in the house.
Beaches, vineyards, golf, canoeing, fishing, crabbing, cycling, markets and shops
Madora Retreat is located in the Madora Bay area. A seven minute walk towards the ocean will get you to the beach, the local pub and a park with a children's playground. A ten minute walk in the opposite direction takes you to a shopping centre with petrol station, fast food outlets, supermarkets, a fruit and vegetable market, pharmacy, liquor stores, bakery, news agency, coffee shops, a bistro and an Italian and an Indian restaurant. Located alongside the shopping centre is a library and a swimming pool. The Lakelands railway station in a 25 minute walk and you can get a train to Perth (50 mins) or Mandurah (5 mins).
Five minutes by car and you are in central Mandurah with its boardwalk, children's playgrounds, cinemas, weekend markets, theatre, marina, shops, numerous restaurants and bars. An outdoor market is held every Sunday along the estuary boardwalk. On the Mandurah estuary you can hire boats, crabbing gear and fishing tackle or take a guided boat tour through the canals where you will be guaranteed to see dolphins at play. Mandurah is known for its fresh and affordable seafood and there are excellent fish restaurants along the marina as well as Thai, Indian, Italian dining options.
Local Attractions
Our holiday home is close to a number of well known public golf courses: Meadow Springs (designed by Robert Trent Jones); Secret Harbour (a Graham Marsh design);, Mandurah Country Club (home to a resident population of kangaroos); and The Cut (Perth's only true links course). Each golf course offers dining and bar facilities.
Other local attractions are vineyards offering tastings and cellar sales, a wildlife park and petting zoo, Abingdon miniature English village and Dwellingup Forest Heritage Centre.
Popular outdoor activities include canoeing on the Murray River, surfing at San Remo beach, bushwalks along the Serpentine River, dolphin cruises, bird watching, white water rafting, crabbing in the Mandurah estuary, beach fishing and cycling on customized cycle trails.
