About this property

Cosy mountain lake ski retreat, relaxation Scandinavian style

Our guests return each year to enjoy this clean and cozy home in the mountains. The light filled house boasts tall timber lined ceilings, a beautiful log fire, internal traditional wood oven (perfect for your favourite pizza) and a Finnish sauna to revive you at the end of the day. With 2 bedrooms the house comfortably sleeps 6. The main bedroom has a queen bed with ensuite and walk in robe. The second bedroom has a double bed and bunks. All beds are clean, warm and comfortable - bedding and linen is provided. Walk over the road and fish Lake Eucumbene from the bank or bring your boat and use the boat ramp at the end of the street. Or explore the numerous trout filled streams nearby for that elusive Rainbow or Brown.
Pets are welcome over the warmer months - between October and May. Unfortunately we have had problems in the past with pets being left alone in the house in the winter while people go skiing, and it is too cold for them to be left outside. Please note the garden is not fenced. We are thrilled that Mt Selwyn resort has been rebuilt and will open bigger and better in 2023. If you have hit the slopes and caught a fish you might like to take a drive to the amazing Yarrangabilly Caves. Picnic in this stunning hidden valley, soak up the history of this 100 year old mountain resort and take a dip in the thermal pool. There are several horse riding operators in the area if you feel like the Man from Snowy River experience. Or just relax. The comforts of the house can make it hard to leave the fireside. You may just stay put and enjoy the quality selection of DVDs, books and games. Take a wander on the 5km bush fire trail at the back for lovely views of the area. At the end of the day supervise the BBQ from the deck and watch the sun set over the mountains in the company of the friendly local wildlife. Coffee and the paper can be found just a 15 minute drive away at the Adaminaby bakery where you will find cream buns, curry pies, coffee and lovely fresh bread, there is also an IGA, newsagent and the pub 'the Snowgoose' and the bowling club and Chinese restaurant for meals and supplies.

Great location, loved the spa
Lovely home with character. Super convenient with two bathrooms and loved the spa, now I want one at home! Will definitely come back next time we want a group stay for fishing in the area.

Hidden Gem
We arrived just after sunset. The last 100 meters to the house we were welcomed by many grey Kangaroos and some wallabies. Every morning and evening they came in our back- and frontyard. We loved this Finnish house and it's sauna. In the evening sitting on the deck gazing at the stars and sipping some wine of playing a game inside the house. Lot to explore in the area. My children, who live in Australia are allredy making plans to come back some day. And maybe I will too. Thank you Alex for letting us stay in your beautiful home. Lovely Cottage in the Snowy Mountains
This 2BR retro cottage has lots of room and all the amenities you need. The sauna was an added bonus after a busy day of walking in the Snowy Mountains. Thanks :)

Finnish house surrounded by kangaroos
We loved the coziness of the house, the quiet and a little remote location yet accessible to conveniences. It gave us the solitude that is much needed in busy life which connects our family better. We enjoyed the sunsets, the lake, watching the Milky Way, the curious kangaroos, and of course the Finnishness of the house. Other than the kangaroos, it felt similar to our experience staying in Lapland.
