About the property

During Winter months, all bookings can be kept flexible and the dates changed if the weather forecast is not good.

Aquamarine is a 3 bedroom house located just behind a dune, right next to a safe swimming beach. It has a light, spacious feeling and plenty of room for larger families or groups. The master bedroom has a king size bed and own bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and even has a dishwasher. Aquamarine is ideal for longer stays all year round. It is well insulated, has a powerful reverse cycle air conditioner / heater and electric blankets on all beds. The back verandah is quite big, overlooks the dune and has a BBQ as well as seating. The house has a pleasant green outlook but there is no sea view. In 2016, the house got freshly painted, many appliances replaced and furniture updated.

Beach access is immediately behind the house with no street between. The beach is great to explore, is fairly sheltered and there is great fishing from the rocks. There are extensive warm shallows for children to enjoy but also an easy access spot to deep water. You can expect to see a lot of wildlife and the sea is teeming with fish. At the same time, you would only be a short drive from the shops, making life considerably easier.

There is NBN broadband WiFi installed in the house and is free for the guests to use. One can even stream movies or play games if you bring your computer.

Well behaved pets may be permitted by individual arrangement but the garden is not fenced.

Located on the North Coast of the fabulous Kangaroo Island, Baudin Beach is a small settlement of about 100 houses, 5 km East from Island Beach and 10 km West from Penneshaw ferry terminal. There is a good supermarket and several eateries at Penneshaw but no food is sold at Baudin Beach. The place is great for fishing and diving with a good boat ramp down the street and a dive shop around the corner. The area is greener and less windy than the South coast of the island. Sheltered waters of Eastern Cove are renown for plentiful King George Whiting. There is a gorgeous, safe and largely private beach just behind the house. The main highway leading to all the island attractions is only a couple of hundred meters away.

Sleeping configuration

The main bedroom has a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the third has a king single and a bunk bed. There are now 3 new sofa beds in the living area, providing additional sleeping if necessary. There is also a portacot available for a baby.

A house that can satisfy most needs but lacking service

  • 3 of 5

Late review, stayed at Aquamarine last week of April 2018. The house is true to its name coloured aquamarine and when you step inside, it is warm due to the yellow paint and wooden floors and a lot of space. It fitted perfectly our group of 7 adults and one kid. Except our first day was marred by the clearly dirty floors, unkempt bedrooms and a smelly living room because someone had peed on one of the couches. Of course, this was unfortunate and not the owner's fault as her cleaner failed to clean at the right time and the previous guests had unruly kids. At least Anna was quick to remedy the situation by sending her cleaner and her friends to help with the couch situation. Aside from this mishap, the house was fine and clearly well-thought-out. It is complete, plenty of plates, cutleries and glasses, most kitchen appliances including a dish washer, a bbq at the balcony; and all the beds were comfortable. The wifi was excellent as it has NBN. Location was good, a mere 10mins drive from the port and Baudin Beach is a 3-minute walk at the back. There are things to fix at the house eg busted bathroom light and loose door latch by the balcony, and I think it was a little too expensive for what we experienced but at the end of the day, after all the exploring of Kangaroo Island, I can definitely say you can safely relax and feel at home at Aquamarine.

Great place

  • 4 of 5

It supplies pretty much everything. 9 out of 10, small things like battery in the air conditioner remote and broken dust pan. These can be improved. Thank you.

We have just returned from this absolute gem of a holiday house! Everything was absolutely perfect! We had 5 adults and 1 child and plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable! Only a short walk to the beach and the house owner could not have been more accomodating !!

Rate a 10/10

Expensive for what you get.

  • 2 of 5

House is ok, near beach but no sea view from house. Worked out at a little over $750 for 3 nights so cost crept up significantly. Wouldn't stay there again.

Owner's Response: I am sorry to hear that you feel this way, Gar. You booked during the premium period, a school holiday and a public holiday. You could have saved $170 by booking one week later.

Excellent house and beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Well... Where to start.. We stayed at aquamarine for four nights. Parents with five kids - 5mths to ten years. Everyone loved it!! House is spacious , so clean (thanks Richard, lovely caretaker ) & had everything we needed (including high chair and cot for bubba).

House in such a great location , just over the sand dune to one of the best beaches you will see (and we live near Wilsons prom , surrounded by beautiful beaches).

The beach is not only beautiful, but safe for young kids, with rocks to explore and fishing for the older family members.

It was great being close to Penneshaw, as was not long off the ferry and we were at the house.

The other fantastic thing about this stay is that there was no surcharge for kids, so as a big family we could actually afford a holiday AND it was fabulous !

We will be back !!
