Christmas at Whispers

  • 5 of 5

We love staying at Whispers. Very relaxing and peaceful. So quiet in the mornings you can hear the cattle cropping the grass. A bird watchers paradise, and the dogs love it.

Beautifully Quiet and Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Whispers was everything we hoped it would be. Living in the city is noisy and busy but staying out here was so peaceful and relaxing. The cows in the paddock next to the house are very tame and didn't mind us walking up to say hello. We stayed here with our 2 French Bulldogs and I don't think, I have ever, seen them happier.

Running around the paddocks trying to play with the cows and just enjoying all the free space. Paddling the canoe on the river was probably their favorite as they had never done that sort of thing before. Something to note for people staying here. It is a older farm house surrounded by large paddocks and some less maintained area which is to be expected for the size of the property. The immediate area around the house is very well fenced and even Hugo our resident magician dog couldn't get out which he usually does. Even though my dogs did not get an ticks or bitten by anything do exercise precaution. Wear appropriate foot wear and clothing when walking around especially down to the river. Some areas were a bit " George of the Jungle " moments. The charm of the Farmhouse was lovely and it had everything we needed.

I would absolutely recommend this property to others.

We had stayed here previously over the past few years and all went well, despite the house continuing to get more and more run down. The house has been up for sale now for over a year and the owners are letting it go. The grass outside the main house fence was around 30cm long, my children were bitten by something during the walk to the river. However - the icing on the cake was the owner calling me afterwards and telling me that because of the rain and the river exceeding its normal level, the kayak was lost and we would have to pay for it. We left the kayak where we found it which was a few metres up from the river bank. The owner then lied to me advising me that the caretaker had checked the location of it prior to our stay - this is an outright lie as I had spoken to the caretaker on the day that it was lost - when he came to check on the kayak's location obviously knowing full well that there was risk of loss. I'm assuming that because they cannot sell the house (even at the high price drop) that they are after a money grab. The owner initially suggested to me that I break the law by attempting to put in a claim for the kayak on my home and contents insurance. Immoral much?

Owner's Response: It’s a sad day when we have to withhold a bond to recover loss and damage incurred by a careless guest. The above post is vexatious, inappropriate and untrue, and I shall not respond to these nasty remarks. It is only the second time in 12 years that we have needed to withhold an entire bond to recover damages. Sadly the bond is not sufficient to cover the costs incurred by this group.

Relaxing retreat

  • 5 of 5

Visiting rellies from HK wanted to have a very different Oz experience. I combined a visit to the Eumundi markets with a stay at this very roomy farmhouse. There were ten of us & this property accommodated us all very well. This was a particularly relaxing couple of days with very peaceful surrounds. Everybody was ecstatic about the solitude and the natural beauty of the countryside. The spaciousness of the house was very enjoyable.
