About Donna Allan
Hi I'm Donna, now retired from nursing and living mostly in Vietnam teaching English for young adults. I have owned this apartment for nearly 10 years taking pride in the way it is presented. I want guests to feel that this is a home away from home by providing all you would expect from you own personal holiday home. We have an excellent cleaning and maintenance team that keep the apartment in excellent condition. I pride myself on great communication and guest assistance, particularly for our many international visitors.
Donna Allan purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why Donna Allan chose Cowes
WE are right on the safe Cowes foreshore beach, close to restaurants and shopping. The large comfortable apartment is just great for a family holiday, groups or just a romantic weekend away.

Such a great location!
We found Donnas apartment to be an outstanding place to stay situated in a prime location just across the road from the beautiful Cowes beach. The apartment was well appointed with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. It was spacious and clean with a wonderful ground floor verandah with outdoor seating. Comfortable seating/dining area and a wonderfully equipped kitchen. The only faults we could find was that the lack of Wifi in the back area of the home was a tad annoying and the netflix too slow to connect, but these were just minor faults that other guests had mentioned. Maybe privacy locks on the bathroom/ensuite would be a great improvement too.
All in all we loved our apartment and would have no hesitation staying again. Donna was also wonderful to deal with and communicated very efficiently which made our stay so easy. The apartment block was peaceful and so close to pubs and restaurants too :)
A spacious apartment for a very reasonable price
From the first moment I reached out to Donna, she was most helpful, a strong communicator and would respond promptly to my questions.
The apartment suited our needs as we were holidaying in Phillip island for New Years! Three spacious bedrooms all with wardrobes to spread out, two bathrooms and large living area.
This apartment uniquely provided the small things travellers might forget when on holiday which made this trip all the more homely, such as hair dryer, beach shelter, beach chairs, sugar, salt, coffee, a huge array of plates, cups, chopping boards, utensils, bbq with bbq cleaner, an extra gas bottle, DVDs, games, books and the use of the parking spot.
Just for these small things alone, I would gladly book this apartment again.
Wow, thank you for the wonderful review, it makes the extra effort worthwhile.
Very impressed and well equipped.
We are checking out now. Thank you for the accommodation and really appreciated.
Great location and great apartment for families
Really enjoyed our stay! Great for the whole family
Excellent well-appointed apartment in a great location!!!
Overall, we really enjoyed our short stay at the waterfront apartment - it is literally just across the road from the beach and a short walk to the main shopping strip in Cowes!!!
The apartment has GREAT facilities and was ideal for our extended family holiday with two adult couples and two kids aged 10 and 6.
The kitchen is VERY well appointed (with Miele appliances no less!) and has EVERYTHING that you need to cook meals.
There is quite a large selection of DVDs to view on the large screen TV. There is also a compact Hi-Fi system to play CDs or connect a phone/music player to.
We LOVED using the billiard table, however, of the 3 or 4 cues that were provided, only one actually had a tip - so game play was slowed considerably passing the cue back and forth between players.
The covered balcony is beautiful, with a table and BBQ (we didn't have time to try it out). It's great just to be able to sit outside in the sun and breathe in the clean ocean breeze.
We did have an issue with the door in the second bedroom that resulted in my elderly parents being trapped inside briefly (fortunately I was able to release the door from the outside to let them out) and also a relatively minor issue with both bathroom doors not being able to lock for privacy. Donna assured us that she would get these maintenance issues resolved after our stay.
WiFi is provided, however, for the duration of our stay, it was running on a 4G backup link that was VERY slow, rather than its' normal ADSL link. Once again, Donna assured us that she would get this checked out.
The secure parking in the basement provides two car spaces and was just passable for our two smaller vehicles, but I think that it would definitely be a bit of a squeeze with two larger vehicles/SUVs.
Aside from these albeit minor issues, Donna seems to have done her very best to make this holiday apartment homely, comfortable and with well-appointed facilities to make any stay here an enjoyable one!
We would definitely love to stay here again!
Average at best
The location of the property and the lead up assistance of HomeAway and the owner was first rate especially in providing details prior to arriving at the property. The Island itself had many outstanding locations suitable for children ranging from 9 to 13. The billiard table and a large range of dvd’s provided the four children with excellent entertainment. The excellent lead up service to the stay was let down by the following: the wifi was incredibly slow and really did not work, I was informed after seeking assistance that the Netflix had been hacked and not able to be accessed, three of the four billiard cues did not have a tip and the absence of a shorter cue for play near the wall made it difficult to play from that side of the table, the double bedroom door once closed could only be opened from the inside. There was evidence of items under the beds, indicating that the room had not been thoroughly cleaned before our arrival. Dust caused distress for one person with a light dubstep allergy. Stale food and sugar packets were in supply behind the couch cushions, the oven had not been cleaned, the children’s doonas were stained, the outside table took awhile to scrub it clean so that we could eat outside, bins in the garage were completely overflowing and the row of bins were left out the front empty for more than a day, and the garage parking advertising two car spaces was really only one and a half. A RAV 4 and a CX5 could not fit even remotely comfortably. We were forced to park one car outside for the duration of the stay. However despite all this we managed to have a great five day family holiday. The unit comfortably housed three adults and four children. There was a good supply of crockery, cutlery and glassware and some pantry items were also available. Laundry included quality washer and dryer and sink.
This was our first and last use of HomeAway properties.
