The Old Bara farmhouse is a charming self contained, 4 bedroom house, circa 1920s, which comfortably sleeps up to 10 people. Comfortable all year round, air conditioning for the warmer months, a slow combustion log fire for the cooler months.

Bedding consists of; 2 Queen bedrooms, 1 double bedroom, 1 room with 2 singles & 1 double. (plus single rollaway bed).
Double sofa bed in sunroom
Portacot available.
All fine linen and towels are provided.
1 full bathroom with bath and shower, shower and loo & extra loo. Total of 3 loos!

Comfortable in all seasons, reverse cycle air conditioner and log fire. Firewood provided FREE of charge. Electric blankets on all beds.

Fully equipped kitchen, including miele dishwasher and coffee machine. Coffee and tea provided.
Large gas BBQ, large entertaining areas. All you need to bring is food!

Set in beautiful established gardens, stunning views everywhere. Great walks.

Perfect for Mountain bike riders and runners.

Bring your mountain bike to ride around the private tracks on Old Bara. Exquisite views of the Mudgee Hills. Take a picnic to a private picnic table on top of one of Old Bara's hills. Share the country experience with your dog as we are pet friendly.

Old Bara Farmhouse Charm

We had a wonderful stay at this property. Our little dogs loved the garden, as did we all. Excellent location and made to feel very welcome by Sally.

Beautiful Old Bara

We stayed for a week and wished we could stay a month. A beautiful place to switch off, slow down and reconnect with your family. Perfect for kids and dogs, with an enclosed fence and a well appointed kitchen. We’d love to go back.

Peace, quiet, comfortable and beauty.

The process booking was seamless and contact with owners very good. Overall it was a restful and lovely experience with the only downside being the 9km of dirt road from the sealed road.

Bara Farmstay

The cottage is fantastic and was clean, with good amenities and was very easy for us to self cater for the weekend. It was very quiet, the location is wonderful and our hosts could not have been friendlier or more welcoming. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful farmstay with some clean and modern amenities close to Mudgee.

Lovely farm house

Lovely farm house, clean and comfortable. No light pollution. A bit out of the way from Mudgee town and a track of unpaved road before arriving. Sally’s hospitality was amazing and our dogs had the best time. Great place to relax, reflect and reconnect with family and Mother Nature.

Richard and Sally became the proud owners of Old Bara in 2004. We were lucky enough to build a new homestead allowing us to rent out the original homestead to our fabulous guests.
All our guests enjoy the privacy of their own house and garden set on 1100 acres of beautiful Australian countryside.

Old Bara gives families and friends the opportunity to experience life on a farm to get away from all the noise, hustle and bustle of their city life. Children and dogs alike love the freedom and space.
We offer peace and tranquility whilst only being an easy 20 mins drive to the fabulous Mudgee wineries and restaurants.
