(if auto-quote fees do not apply you will not be charged, the house is much nicer than shown but our pictres need more pixels!)
Wade or enjoy a private take out/put in on the Missouri River in the green back yard where no one else fishes in this custom house on 1 acres with sprinkler-fed fruit trees. Don’t be surprised to see deer, geese and ducks in the window nudging their way near the deck, or a bear eating huckleberries along the river in the early morning. if you are especially quiet and observant, the hundreds of acres of park and ranch across the river also have mountain goats, bears, antelope and even the mountain lion.
Help yourself to the library, watch satellite television or DVD movies, or read from the house’s library.
Only few miles from the Missouri Inn over the bridge where the Untouchables was filmed, enjoy the canyon or visit the Lewis and Clark’s Tower Rock and surrounding Park. From this base, see the spetacular Glacier Park or the continent’s largest dinosaur digs to the northwest, float the Lewis and Clark Trail by pontoon boat and lunch at the island where one of the nation's most famous fires occurred, or travel south to Yellowstone National Park or Jackson Hole, each an easy day’s visit.
Hike with tremendous rock views, or enjoy the new, custom kitchen and fisherman’s décor. In the evening, take your pick of 3 spacious bedrooms where at the end of the day 6 extra long beds await or tie a few at the fly-tying table.
We are avid outdoor people with political jobs that keep us indoors or reading the news all too often. The men were driving thousands of miles on annual 'vacation' fly fishing the West. One year I persuaded them to rent a week in Montana, and they found hundreds of great spots to fish all where the Dearborn and Missouri Rivers connect. The next year we bought not one but two great houses -- and have not looked back.
Donna purchased this house in 2005
We fish in the summer and hunt in the winter ... and there is nothing like leaving the humidity of DC and hanging out on the water.
We drive through Yellowstone to Jackson Hole, go to Fort Benton for the statue of a dog (Shep) and the most famous Wild West block north of Great Falls, visit the Charles Russell Museum to see the new exhibits, float the historic tour of the places Lewis and Clark saw, and endlessly fish or sunbathe. There are shrimp-fed edible pink fish at the dam, and someone is always giving us elk or venison to roast (which you can actually buy), yum! And the galleries and jewelry are fabulous, but you may even enjoy the gambling. The first time I read in the yard, three deer were curious and came closer to visit!
Had a great time house has a great view of river from porch lots of privacy and quiet house is nice with everything we needed planning on returning in 2018
Great time, great views, great state. Mo fished well, we hit the LOG and took a boat ride to the gateway of the rockies 10-12 miles of river surrounded by 500ft shear canyon walls on both sides a must see for sure. House was in great shape and clean, very nice accomodations indeed.
Our Family had a wonderful vacation at the house. We did several floats -- a short float on the Dearborn (ending at the house), floated from the house to one of the Missouri River
accesses, and part of our group did a longer float on the Dearborn, which turned out to be quite an adventure when our daughter had a close encounter with a young bear--Grizzly or Black is up for debate. She was so startled, she flipped her kayak and went into the water. Luckily the Bear was just as surprised and ran back into the woods.
The house was a great place for a family vacation with plenty of room (including the bunkhouse) for 11 people- ages 8 months to 72 years.
Everyone enjoyed the pool table (tournaments abounded throughout the week),
and the outdoor space was amazing. The birdwatchers among us identified several species that were new to us including a Williamson's Sapsucker that flew right over our heads.
The proximity to the River was great for the fishermen (one of the grandchildren caught a 17 inch Rainbow Trout) and everyone enjoyed the swimming hole.
The caretaker was great and responded quickly when we had a question.
Thank you for sharing this outstanding property - we had a great family
Accommodations were great house is beautiful and spacious, great place to get away. Fishing the Mo was a blast no idea how many we caught but it was well over 100. Scenery off the back deck is fantastic, saw tons of wildlife and spent hours watching satellites wiz by in the great Montana sky. Great trip will do it again soon.
We produce a TV show called "Fishing with Ladin" and travel all throughout the northwest fishing and filming. This place is definitely a favorite and one we would love to return to with our families.
The house is spacious and beautifully done and even has a pool table. It sits on the banks of the Dearborn River with a tremendous view.
We had a great time fishing the Dearborn up and downriver from the house and also floated the river with our raft. We floated from the house down to the Missouri River. If you are fishing the Missouri River this is a great place to stay. It is about 20 minutes from Craig.
We were able to film two episodes for our upcoming season.
My wife and I invited two other couples to join us for a week-long stay at this beautiful home in a secluded valley 500 yards upstream of the Missouri River which Lewis & Clark traversed on their Voyage of Discovery. The home is spacious - three comfortable bedrooms and two baths - with a very modern kitchen and large dining and living areas, with a big deck overlooking the property and Dearborn River. It's very conveniently located half way between Great Falls and Helena, which provide lots of sightseeing opportunities. And it's only 30 minutes from Craig, MT, where the float fishing guides provide superb rainbow and brown trout fishing - even for novices. We also made day trips to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. It's a wonderful place for a vacation in The Big Sky Country, which we highly recommend !!!!
there is so much to do the teens may put down their cell phones! Most guests are fly fishing, hiking, dinosaur digs, bird watching, or riding the rails. Glacier Park /Yellowstone Parks are 3 hours away, Lewis & Clark Tower Rock is down the road as is The Untouchables bridge. The Charlie Russell Museum in Great Falls less than an hour, there is live music in Craig, and the Museum of the Rockies (dinosaurs) in Bozeman is two scenic hours away.
