Perfect place for a holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this perfect holiday place in a beautiful part of NSW. The apartment has wonderful views over the ocean and is really well equipped and extremely comfortable. Lee and Paul were excellent hosts, made us very welcome & passed on some handy hints regarding places to go & things to do. Thanks again - we loved our stay. Highly recommended.

Restful Beauty.

  • 4 of 5

'The View' certainly lives up to its name, even after the bush-fires.

The unit is well thought-out and well finished. Furnishings and decor all add to a very relaxed, refreshing stay.

While sciatica limited the ability to enjoy walks around Tathra we enjoyed a couple of photo expeditions (even amongst the ash). The View was a lovely place to read a couple of books and look up regularly to just rejoice in the beauty of creation.

I highly recommend The View as a place to retreat to finish some writing or other project in uninterrupted peaceful surroundings (no Mobile coverage).

Paul proved to be an excellent host. Thanks.

Other Activities:

Tathra Beach & Kianny Bay

Tathra Beach

A beautiful clean beach with cafe on the beach, and safe swimming. The beach is a sort walk downhill from The View or a 2minute drive.

Or enjoy swimming at one of the secluded beaches in National Parks surrounding the town.

Tathra Walks

There is a lovely walk from the back garden. Go through our gate and follow the path down the slope to the right until you see a path leading off to the left through the bush towards the ocean. A easy 60 minute return walk on dirt/bush tracks with spectacular views. Follow the cliffline it links Tathra Wharf with Kianinny Bay.

From Kianniny Bay you can walk to Wallagoot Lake. Kangarutha walking track is a challenging walk along Bournda National Park’s rugged coastline. Gather your more energetic friends and family members together to spend a day exploring the pebbly beaches, sandy bays, pockets of rainforest and cliff-tops sections that this hiking route offers. Pack a picnic and find a lunch spot along the way with scenic ocean views.

Tathra Wildlife Reserve - The small parking area is on the western side of the road at the entrance to Tathra (Bega side). This 60 hectare wildlife corridor has prolific birdlife and an abundance of native flora. The Blueberry Ash Trail is particularly entrancing, leading through coastal forest then under a canopy of oaks where leaves and pine needles carpet the forest floor. Across a small bridge and up to a viewing platform overlooks a timbered ravine where the only sound is the wind in the treetops and the crack of a Whip Bird. An easy walk (3/4 hour) on a well constructed trail. A map is located at the carpark.

Moon Bay Walk - over Tathra’s northern headland - Taken from Mogareeka turn right after the bridge onto Bay Drive and park at the end of the street. Follow the bush track over the headland to Moon Bay Beach

National Parks

Bournda National Park - is the Far South Coast’s best-kept secret, offering secluded beaches, stunning coastal walks and great birdwatching.

Mimosa Rocks National Park - Located not far North of Tathra on the Bermagui Road.

Biamanga National Park - just north of Tathra off the Bermagui Road, Biamanga Cultural area offers visitors a place to picnic and enjoy the view from a lookout over a beautiful gorge

Panboola – Pambula Wetlands and Heritage Project. Panboola is a conservation, restoration, educational and passive recreational and tourism project, embracing the history and diversity of the wetlands within the floodplain.

Gulaga (Mt Dromedary) - Mount Gulaga is an extinct volcano rising 797 metres above sea level. The mountain and the surrounding area are significant to the Yuin people, particularly the women. The steep track up the mountain was built in 1894 for gold miners. Take the gravel path from Pam's Store in Tilba Tilba and continue up the mountain.

Towns

Central Tilba and Tilba Tilba - offer a unique opportunity to step back in time and visit perfectly preserved heritage villages. But the region also offers so much more with great shops, cafes, gardens, romantic getaways and Tilba Valley Wines – all surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty.

Bermagui & Wallaga Lake - Bermagui hugs the edges of its spectacular harbour and nestles under the shadow of Gulaga (Dromedary Mountain). A small and vibrant coastal town, offering boutique services and attractions, many unique to this area. Fish & Chips at Bermagui Marina

Cobargo - The quaint buildings house craftspeople who not only sell a range of unique goods from woodcrafts and pottery to leather and art works, they can often be seen at their craft working in the way that people did when Cobargo was a young town.

Eden township - wharf and whale museum - The heart and soul of Eden – and its history – is Twofold Bay. It was home to shore-based whaling stations and Old Tom, the legendary killer whale whose story can be learned at the Eden Killer Whale Museum or by taking the self guided Killer Whale Trail.

Bega township - which is famous for Bega Cheese. The cheese factory has a visitor centre with a good museum and cheese tasting.

Candelo - Built around the crossroads of Merimbula, Bega and Bombala in the early 1830s, Candelo remains a meeting place and through fare for travellers and, increasingly, musicians and artists.
