About Gloria Slade

Adelaide is my home but have travelled both for work and pleasure since having an "empty nest". (Italy, England & Turkey being my faves to date.) My work history is mostly in management - personnel then advertising & marketing - all very people related. So I enjoy meeting new guests but respect their privacy, and the need for excellent levels of presentation, cleanliness and on-going maintenance in a beachside property with some history. I value my working relationships with cleaning and laundry associates and "treasured tradies", so can ensure that standards are maintained at all times. In fact, this home was (and is) my 14th personal renovation, which has provided knowledge benefiting the role of property manager. I'm a passionate Gardener, so guests can enjoy the views of my labours each season.

Gloria Slade purchased this house in 2005

Why Gloria Slade chose Brighton

The very close proximity to lovely Brighton Beach is high on the list of previous guests. It's also a roomy, comfortable place with lots of leisure aids that most don't offer. I hope that my own travels have shown what guests enjoy in a hospitality home, particularly when travelling with children. We provide a bookcase of books, games and little ones' videos plus Foxtel and free Wi-fi to keep in touch with "home" and other family members. There's beach towels and hats, boogie boards and the bucket and spades that you don't have to pack. You'll probably find sun screen in the bathroom as well. The front verandah and back garden settings offer a choice of sunny or shady spots, and feeding the family is fairly simple with such a wide variety of cafes, restaurants, take aways and pre-prepared food in the supermarket and shops nearby.

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location. My guests are always telling me "what a great spot this is" and just how nice Brighton is. At the heart of things but still quiet street-wise after the sun has set, so you can sleep peacefully. Included, there's a high chair, portacot and special little chairs for babies and toddlers. But you do have to bring your own baby bedding for the portacot as I'm a little paranoid about Mum's preference regarding vaccination. (Your choice, not mine!) For the adults there's also a Terrace available next-door with seating, etc. looking straight at the ocean, to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine at sunset (sans children unless they are actively supervised for their own safety and my sanity).

Fantastic spot

  • 5 of 5

We had such a marvellous time at Bright Seas. It is the perfect size for our little family and the location was amazing. We saw dolphins at the beach every day and wandered down the fifty metres to the beach most nights to watch the sunset. Everything you need is at the cottage and Gloria is a perfect host. We would love to stay again.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Angela. You were just the most perfect guests and I would love you to return some time. It was a pleasure to provide the Christmas Tree for your daughter to put up and do thank her for packing it up again. Very helpful at this time of year! Best wishes, Gloria.

Exceptional Location and Accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

Gloria was our host and like the property was just charming. Our location was superb just 2 doors down from the Beach with amenities within walking distance. Although the weather was out of Gloria's control she made our stay welcoming. All modern facilities you could ask for but the best thing was the personal touches which invited you into this beautiful grand home. It has catered for everyone from games for children, providing boggy boards and buckets and spade for little children. How thoughtful a host

Our stay was for a Baseball tournament and we were only 7 minutes drive time from the Diamond with easy traffic on Brighton Road through to the Baseball field.

Definitely will be a place to recommend and revisit.

I hope that you get to read this Gloria ~

Very good maisonette

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed being in the house, its furnishing proves good taste but is cosy. The equipment is adequate and it is cool in summer.Sitting in the little garden or the front porch is quite peaceful and you have all the privacy you wish. Our daughter and grandson were perfectly happy as well. The beach is only minutes away ,the bay as peaceful as a lake and stunning sunsets. It was a great holiday, thank you Gloria.
