"Treetops" at South Durras

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 2 nights

About the property

"Treetops" is a little touch of heaven! Away from the hustle and bustle - the office desk or the paddocks - our unique house offers an escape that is both functional and picturesque. This truly beautiful property, nestled in a tropical garden, offers a quiet getaway only six minutes walk from Durras beach in the Murramarang National Park.

The attractive cedar house is well laid out with quality furnishings and comprises two upstairs bedrooms with one King and one Queen bed. Downstairs there is a rumpus room with bunks and Queen bed, entertainment unit with TV and DVD and a second bathroom. The external staircase to the rumpus room downstairs is covered and leads from the decking area - children over 5 yrs love this room as it gives them a sense of adventure!

Visitors will enjoy a well-equipped open plan kitchen and living area which has very recently been extended. This has enhanced the views to the garden and allows more light to filter in. The renovations open out to an extended and very spacious deck complete with barbeque, market umbrella and outdoor furniture. Inside there is a great range of adult and children's DVDs, CDs, books, games and activities to suit all ages and interests.

Our house is very private and very quiet. Throughout the year, magnificent parrots, pigeons, bower birds and finches alight the deck providing interesting photographic opportunities and the enjoyment of feeding our bird life and the odd cheeky possum!

Over the last 8 years we have welcomed lots of families and couples from all parts of the globe to our home which has many of the extras we know you will enjoy. Do come and try Durras - we think 'Treetops' is the pick of the bunch!

"We had a great time, much too short a stay. The house is set up beautifully, just like a well-equipped treehouse. Love the tropical feel, the birds sitting on my arm, the surrounding beaches, closeness to the Bay and Mogo Zoo, Pebbly Beach - too much to list. Paradise placed right in the middle! Can't wait to come back!" 25/6/09

What a lovely peaceful spot! My boys had a wonderful time feeding the birds. I was worried they would become so fat they wouldn't be able to fly anymore! 26/3/12

What to do in South Durras

South Durras is one of many beautiful beaches along the south coast located in the Murramarang National Park. The scope to venture out and explore this magnificent coastline is limitless. You can take a bike or simply walk the tracks to find these hidden gems. On the other hand, you might simply want to stay and relax in peace and tranquillity at beautiful 'Treetops'. Winter is the perfect time for doing this with the fire to keep you cosy and the opportunity to snuggle up with a good book or your special person!

Although there is no restaurant in South Durras, if you want to enjoy a meal out or breakfast next to the sea, Batemans Bay is not far away and also has an array of shops, movie theatres, galleries and sporting venues. Fishing is plentiful in Durras along the beach or off the rocks. You might be lucky enough to watch a pod of dolphins or even whales in springtime. The lake provides a perfect opportunity for kayaking and the calm waters are ideal for toddlers. I am told that the skate park at South Durras is excellent and is being upgraded. Swimming and walking opportunities are bountiful. And if you enjoy birding or 'twitching' you have a perfect spot at 'Treetops' to watch and enjoy!

Loved the location, comfortable home, very clean and lots of provisions (kitchen, pantry, bbq, games, books, beach gear and toys like lego). A beautiful weekend for two families with busy young kids. Having the separation for families between upstairs and downstairs was ideal. The deck was beautiful for meals and bird watching - the only negative was that we fought over the one reclining deck chair because it was so lovely relaxing there...another chair or two outside would be perfection.

Relaxing, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Treetops for our first anniversary. Beautifully situated house, the palms and ferns make it feel secluded and private. Light and airy, with lots of little extras in the kitchen and lounge. Close to gorgeous beaches and national parks around Durras, and a 15 minute drive to some lovely seafood restaurants at Bateman's Bay. We had a wonderful stay and would love to come back next time.

Thanks to Fiona and Geoff (and Virginia!)

What a great break!

We had such a lovely weekend at Treetops, weather was lovely, Cookies Beach was spectacular, we even saw the dolphins. After arriving late on Friday evening, it was so lovely to have a late check out on Sunday, thank you so very much, it made our weekend. Our 15 year old daughter loves your room downstairs and wants to move permanently to South Durras! Your house is so comfortable, you've thought of everything. Brilliant little vacuum cleaner too! Thanks again.

Lovely location, little touches made a difference

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for Christmas as a family with our kids, who are from 11 to 30 years old. The location is beautiful, instead of a backyard or garden there is lush greenery on all sides, so it's private and quiet. There were little touches such as a small wooden christmas tree on the table, a decorative arrangement on the fireplace and hanging angels and stars. With big couches plus floor cushions there was room for all of us, and the verandah is big, going halfway round the house. More little touches such as various spices and herbs in the cupboard, along with staples such as flour and sugar - and we've left coffees, more sugar and frozen vegetables in our turn so each family doesn't have to travel with (or shop for) a whole pantry - very convenient! The beds are roomy, bathroom upstairs is spacious - though the floor is VERY slippery when wet, so be careful. Downstairs everything is compact, but with extras such as gaming it was very popular with all ages. Aside from the location, it is the little things that made it extra nice, and we would happily stay again.

Owner's Response: Hi Annie I seemed to miss your review early in the year but thank you for writing about your stay at Treetops. Am glad you found the extras in the pantry useful and that the house was spacious for your needs. We have added 2 extra tub chairs which gives added seating to the family room area. We look forward to having you stay again. Regards Fiona and Geoff

Magical house in magical location

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent the most amazing weekend at Treetops. It was a birthday weekend with 3 generations and everyone was very happy with the whole experience. Areas for everyone, close contact with wildlife, lots of little extras and perfect location. Late checkout was very much appreciated. Would love to come back next year. Maybe in winter !
