"Beds were uncomfortable. Kitchen, utensils, cutlery, scourers grubby. Fridge didn't work properly and did not keep our food cold at all. Inadequate hot water for a family of four. Limited towels and toilet paper given. Bath was dirty and had ? hair in it. Did not recieve bond as we were accused of breaking a microwave plate and we were made to pay for it. We left 4 days early as we did not enjoy our stay. The money for the extra 4 days was not offered to be refunded and held by hosts. The land/property is lovely and picturesque although house is not cleaned/maintained properly and the photos shown on Stayz is not a true representation."

Breathtaking views, but forget hot showers..

  • 4 of 5

Loved the aura of the house and the breathtaking views - I could live in Buchan. Very hospitable hosts and town folk. Lovely citrus trees around the property, and cute farm animals ready to greet visitors. A wonderful location to disconnect from the stressful responsibilities of city life. A few significant negatives: We had very little, warm water, definitely not enough for a family's use - forget hot showers!

There is no phone reception on the property, and no landline to make any calls. Visitors must drove about 10-15kms for any coverage.

A few significant negatives:

We had very little, warm water, definitely not enough for a family's use. Particularly if you have children playing outside during the day, forget hot showers at night.

Spent a marvellous week in the farmhouse at the back of Buchan. Exactly what we were looking for close to the Snowy and plenty of room for the kids.A highlight was watching our 5 and 7 year old clamber over the gate cross the paddock over another gate and down to the baby goats all on their own. Something they would never do in the City; just to see that little growth of independence was worth the holiday. We'll be back.
