This home is at the Columbia Heights METRO

This dazzling two bedroom one bath home has all the necessities for urban living. This is a 2,000 sq ft home. It is extremely large and comfortable and is great for small family gatherings or small groups of friends. This home boasts of an island kitchen with a granite top that sits 6 persons comfortably. The kitchen is equipped with a washer, dryer and dishwasher. Beyond the kitchen, through the door and up a few short steps is an exit to the yard. This is ideal for a small family pet. Also great for children to play, parents to grill outdoors, or a place to enjoy the foliage.

This home is located in the northwest quadrant of the city in the revitalized Columbia Heights. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION is highly encouraged as this home has no parking garage and no parking driveways.

This neighborhood is ideal for travel via public transportation because the Metro is less than a 2 minute walk (2 city blocks) away from the home. There are local shuttle services that may be boarded one block away and these shuttles go to many tourist sites. There are buses one block away and many taxi cabs as well as airport shuttles are often spotted in the neighborhood. At the supermarket, a very short walk from the home are bicycle rentals. Please keep in mind that this home is not equipped with a parking garage.

The ''Gala Theater,'' provides live entertainment, The World Sports and Health Club provides an outlet to exercise and the wonderful Day Spas (two) are just a few attractive features in this revitalized neighborhood. There are bicycles available for rental at very reasonable prices. These rentals are located in front of the GIANT Supermarket, 1 block from the apartment home. The Metro train is by far the most popular attraction in the neighborhood as it provides transportation to all the tourist sites. There is a wealth of restaurants with all sorts of food including Chinese, Vietnamese, Mexican, Italian, and a list of chain restaurants to include Ruby Tuesdays, Chipotle, Subway and Five Guys. There are local restaurants that specialize in other international cuisines and many sidewalk cafes to include Star Bucks. There is a town square where fountains exists, artwork is on display, local music groups offer free performances and there are benches and tables where one may sit to enjoy the free entertainment and the night air.

This apartment home is a duplex style apartment on the Lower Level. There are two bedrooms both equipped with over-sized queen beds with lovely cotton Egyptian sheets, large dressers with marble tops, end tables with warm lamps. The renovated bathroom showcases the original tile and there is a large and modern island kitchen, and a spacious yard.

There is a large supermarket, named ''Giant'' if you decide to cook in the lovely remodeled kitchen.

Sooo many stores, sidewalk cafes, bars, supermarket, bike rentals, 24 hour CVS, 24 hour IHOP, ALL within walking distance.

What makes this apartment unique

Grocery store is steps away and the hours are conveniently 6am until 11pm weekly. There is a large bicycle rack with wonderful bikes directly in front of the 'Giant' grocery store. Why not see Wash DC by bike? There are sidewalk cafes/restaurants on 11th st., NW between Lamont and Monroe. There are a host of stores, Wash DC Sports Club, IHOP, Starbucks, Five Guys, and wonderful international restaurants in the neighborhood.

Great management of this property. We've stayed in this building before. This is the 1st time we stayed in the lower level. Only downside is you can hear every footstep above you. Quiet part of the street. Pictures accurately reflect this condo.

For the most part, this rental was good. It was a short Uber or metro ride to anywhere in DC. It was a short walk to grocery, target and coffee shops. It was clean and kitchen was fully stocked with any cookware you might need. The biggest problem was that there was no control for the AC and no vents in the bedrooms, so airflow was limited if you kept the doors closed at night.

Comfortable Place

We were a three-generation family of five who used VRBO for the first time ever. This location was easy to find in the city and it was all the description said it would be, from stores within a two-block walk to the Metro station just a scant three-block walk. Parking with the provided pass was easy enough to find on the street. Inside, the space is much less than the advertised "nearly 2,000 sq.ft." but adequate for our needs. Beds were comfortable and exactly as pictured. A daybed in the living room provided a needed 5th sleeping place. There were enough sheets and towels, tho no dishtowels. We were happy to find a stacked washer and dryer in the kitchen. The bouquet of red roses were a nice welcome. A previous reviewer complained that the toilet did not always flush, but that has either been repaired or we knew how to operate the water efficient toilet. A sign in the kitchen asked us to only use one appliance at a time which we followed and had no electrical outages. About our only discomfort was the lack of teaspoons in the flatware set, which had soup and serving spoons instead, a very minor complaint. Well, that and the lack of a strong wi-fi signal. Overall, with all things being equal in another time, I would choose this address again.

Not pleased at all.

After driving 13 hours to this location, the first thing our party of 7 smelled was GAS! We went back and forth with the property manager only for them to CONFIRM that there was a gas leak. However, there was no solution for us. Went back and forth only for them to tell us that it was fixed (which by the smell, it clearly wasn't). My 3 children as well as us adults had to deal with headaches because of this smell. The property was poorly kept in need of renovations. (Some of the outlets didn't work and the shower stall leaks a significant amount into the hallway.) The owner offered to credit us 2 days on later dates, however, we live in FL so that would be a huge inconvenience for us. Extremely disappointed and I warn future renters to steer clear from this property. They will not treat you or your family well.

Owner's Response: We try very hard to work with all of our valued Guests. The Gas Leak was not planned but as soon as we learned about it we immediately had the AS Company come out. One mechanic incorrectly diagnosed the problem but we swiftly had the Washington DC Gas Company's Supervisor return and we worked diligently to get the issue repaired. We now have the issued repaired. For future guest, rest assured that we have upgraded the apartment home and we will continue to do our best to continuously improve on our services and our product.

Very Disappointing

While we liked the neighborhood, I would not recommend this rental to anyone. We knew it was a " lower level" apt, but it smelled the whole time. The lights were dim and many bulbs were out. The water pressure in the shower was very low. The owner doesn't use a secure method for storing the key and instructed us to leave it in the mailbox. We didn't like the insecurity of that arrangement at all. The beds were comfortable. Oh, and the shower leaks so the water goes onto the batrhoom floor and down the tiled hallway. The place was nicely furnished, well located for our purposes and the appliances worked. the kitchen had sufficient pots, pans and utensils. It is overpriced for the poor maintenance level.

The apartment was tiny. It wa clean but the walls are super thin and we could literally here the people above us constantly which made it hard to sleep.

There's also no AC/heat thermostat in the apartment - you're completely dependent on the people upstairs :/

Car: not necessary

Local farmers from nearby Maryland and Virginia bring freshly grown fruits and vegetables to the town square each weekend and sell their wares. This townsquare is a five minute walk around the corner from the home.

The Supermarket is also across the street from this home and has hours from 6am-11pm for guests to collect groceries to cook in this vacation home. There are also bike rentals in front of the Supermarket. There are loads of chain restaurants, as well as boutique restaurants along the commercial strip for guests to choose from when one does not feel up to cooking. Loads of stores like Best Buys, Target, Marshalls, Radio Shack, Models Sporting Goods, and many other stores for shopping convenience. METRO also beside the 24-Hour CVS Pharmacy.

On Street Parking is available with a Visitor Parking Pass (VPP). There is a one time service fee of $20 for our Runner to commute to the DC Office to apply for, pick up and deliver the VPP to the mailbox of the Guest Home. Guests are required to immediately place the VPP on their dashboard to avoid getting ticketed and towed.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
