Overview

Photos and Description of this Kearny holiday house

Country House / Chateau, 4 Bedrooms + Den, 3 Baths (Sleeps 8-10) + Guest House

Where the West is still Wild! The A Diamond Ranch is a working cattle ranch nestled on 22,000 acres of saguaro-studded mountains. The main ranch house can be your home for the best vacation ever. (Plus the Restored Bunkhouse for an addition $125 a night.) The 1930's ranch house has been completely restored and improved upon. You will feel like you have stepped back in time and out of the rush of everyday life.

The A Diamond is one of the few working ranches in Arizona with a year-round river running through it. The Gila River is accessible from all of the ranch buildings and is a wonderful source of recreation including kayaking and tubing. Bring your own horses and ride the wide open spaces or catch the spectacular and historical Arizona Trail that intersects through the ranch. Four-wheeling with jeeps and ATV's are another alternative to exploring the beautiful mountains. Artists and writers will be inspired by the ranch's beauty. Bird watchers will delight at all of the birds calling the Gila River home.

The home has over 3200 sq ft of living space plus our swimming pool and 5 private porches and verandas, for you to hangout and relaxation space for this fantastic Arizona ranch vacation.

Just inside our hundred-year-old front doors is the first of several living areas. Sit by the rock fireplace and enjoy a long getting-reacquainted visit with family or friends or lose yourself in one of the many books in our library. The little den off the kitchen is another gathering place you will enjoy as everyone joins in the preparation of meals in the cozy kitchen with its antique furnishings and modern appliances. Even doing dishes is fun in the old farmhouse sink. Mealtime is a treasure around the harvest table in the dining room with its wall-to-wall windows overlooking the pool area and the majestic saguaros and purple mountains beyond. The game room boasts a large flat screen TV, game tables and comfy seating.

You will love our 4 magnificent bedrooms.

The Cattle Baron's room lets you sleep like royalty in its huge antique king-sized bed. Sit by the fire in the cozy beehive fireplace and wake up to the glorious sound of the river running below. The master bathroom is a full bath. Look for the A Diamond brand in the shower.

Libby's Room, named after the owner's wonderful mother-in-law, has a lovely king-sized bed and beautiful aqua and brown decor. Next to it is the A Diamond Bunk Room. Antique bunk-size beds and red, black and blue linens and cowboy pillows make this the choice for kids.

The main bathroom across from Libby's Room and the Bunk Room is right beside the full laundry room facility.

Linda's Room is a quiet little blue and white retreat with a queen bed off the kitchen side of the house with its own bathroom, and is a favorite of everybody's. High quality linens and towels are provided for all rooms.

About Helen Vinson

My name is Helen Vinson and my husband Gregg and I own the A Diamond Ranch. It is a working cattle ranch with a carrying capacity of about 300 head of cattle. We are conservation ranchers and sell our all natural beef at the local farmer's markets.

Helen Vinson purchased this house in 2004

Why Helen Vinson chose Arizona

This was not purchased as a vacation rental, but rather to keep a historic ranch from being split up. The main home had been sold off separately from the ranching operation and when the opportunity came available to put it back with the ranch we jumped on it. Our home is about an hour from the ranch, but every time I go out to the ranch it is like a mini-vacation and we decided we wanted to share this special place with others.

The Ranch is an absolutely beautiful, serene, away from it all, scenic place to spend a vacation.

We arrived at the ranch and instantly fell in love. This gem in the middle of the Arizona desert is just what we needed to rest and relax. There were 3 couples staying at the ranch and each of us had our own bedrooms and bathrooms. The beds are extremely comfortable with feather pillows and crisp, clean sheets. The bathrooms and showers are made for royalty with an abundance of plush towels. The kitchen and pantry is stocked with everything you will have forgotten! Each room is uniquely decorated and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the ranch from Kristen. We loved using the old tea kettle every night for tea! We sat in the hot tub every night and did sit by the pool on a day we choose to rest from riding our motorcycles. We just happened to arrive when there was a full moon. The sight of the full moon rising over the mountains and shining on the pool was spectacular.

We brought our smart phones and Ipads and actually had pretty good service while at the ranch. We were able to get emails, texts, and make calls in various locations in the ranch house.

The ranch was just as described and we had a fabulous vacation and will will be making plans to return.

Kristen and Gary were available for questions and we were even blessed to have Kristen bring us homemade street tacos. One of the highlights of our trip was having a visit by Kristen and Deegan!

If you want a vacation away from the hustle and bustle of city life then head to the ranch, I promise you won't be disappointed. The ranch is a gem in the middle of the Arizona desert!

Staying here was awesome!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I used to live at this ranch in the 80s and 90s! My mother, sister, brother and I rented the A-Diamond for 18 days and I brought my wife and children out. The ranch is much more comfortable than it used to be when it was JUST a working ranch. It was very cool to see parts of the property that remained similar to my childhood memories and what was changed.

The house and pool were excellent! WiFi was slow, but we didn't go out there to use the internet - so no worries on that front. The weather was seasonably cool (ranging from the high 50s to the low 80s). We hiked the Arizona Trail from Kelvin to the railroad tracks a couple of times. The place was nice and clean and the beds were super tall - which my kids loved. We ate most meals off the back patio behind the master bedroom and enjoyed cooking with mesquite wood in the grill by the pool immensely!

Thank you so much for making this property available - we definitely plan on returning!

Wonderfully Secluded Location!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the ranch. This is the ultimate "away from it all" location. Peace, tranquility, and the sound of river water in the background all day. Lots of bird activity including hummers. No traffic, just peaceful bliss. Excellent solar pool heater warms the large pool really well even without the propane heater. Nearest town of Kearny is about 20 minutes drive so bring lots of groceries. Vehicle mandatory, roads are good so no need for 4x4. Marked walking trails starting at the house and many more about 5 minutes drive from the house. Tons of space in this large house which is well furnished. Mornings are cool due to being at the bottom of a river valley, but heats up quickly during the day. Panoramic 360 degree views with mountain backdrop in every direction. Covered balconies on almost every outside wall so you can find shade at any time of day if you want a break from the sun. Large library of books, internet slow but adequate, cell phone signal is poor but works. TV channel selection was good. Deposit was received promptly after our stay.

A beautiful property and home. The decorating in each room was impressive....beautifully done. We were surprised on our first afternoon when 3 friendly horses joined us on the gravel around the house! That was a treat and come the second day, 4 horses came around....and right onto the tile veranda surrounding the house! We got so many pictures of them looking in on us through the front room windows!

A quiet and tranquil location. Pool time was extra fun given the room of pool toys provided. The house itself was so spacious and beautiful, it really was a dream to spend time at this ranch. The yard and surrounding land was equally beautiful.....anyone who can afford time here is truly fortunate.

Would love to come again! Thank you!

Beautiful home and stunning desert views. Couldn't have asked for a better place to catch up with family. Felt comfortable the minute we entered the home. If you enjoy the outdoors and privacy this is the place.

Stunning Home! We had a great Christmas Vacation with our Family

  • 5 of 5

We book this home 10 months in advance to stay the week of Christmas. I'm a native of AZ and I originally wanted to have my wedding at this house but had too many on my list to accommodate. So when my husband's family from Ohio said they wanted to come to us this holiday, I jumped on the opportunity to stay at this AMAZING ranch home. We had 5 adults and 6 children with more than enough room for everyone! Great split floor plan. Bedding and liens top notch as well as all the furniture and rustic decor. The ladies loved the fireplace living room while the guys enjoyed the "man cave" with the TV. Great Views from every room (except the "kids" room with the two twin beds). Hiking all around and the kids loved the ranch cats A-dot(white & fluffy) and Baby Girl (black and white) and made friends with the few of the ranch dogs Charlie and ....I cant remember names of the other 3 ranch dogs. Be sure to leave your shoes and food inside because the dogs will get to them ......

Though the weather was not on our side the entire week we we're there, we still made the best of it! Cooking many meals, (kitchen has all needed pot, pans, plates, glassware, warming up with the fire (inside and out), and of course in the hot tub every night!!!!

The owners really take pride in the home, it shows to every minor detail. We even had the opportunity to meet the Rancher himself as I accidentally locked myself out of the master bathroom...oops...but the brother who works on the ranch property was happy to assist in getting it open, we also had a slight issue with the Hot tub but they made sure to have someone out the next day to have it repaired(just a clog). We even got to see the mining train that pass through every now and then and had some friends out one day to have the kids ride on the four-wheeler's We had a GREAT time and would love to go back (spring/summer time) again! Truly a get-a-way experience you wont forget!!

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place to get together with our East coast/West coast adult children and this turned out to be the perfect spot. The house is beautiful, spacious, well-maintained and very "homey". There was plenty of space for the 6-8 of us to spread out as well as to gather on the porches and comfortable sitting areas during the day. We looked forward to grilling and gathering around the fire pit at night, also enjoyed the spa. We loved the silence and the beauty that surrounded us; it was truly an opportunity to step out of the "rat-race". We enjoyed several nearby hiking trails. Although we stocked up on groceries in Phoenix before we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the house was well-stocked with spices, condiments and many other items, plus the IGA in Kearney had everything we might need. The owner was very responsive and pleasant to deal with. We are hoping to make a visit to the A Diamond an annual event for our family.
