Exquisite Views

We loved our stay here ..the views were unbelievable ...probably the best of any accommodation I have stayed at....Comfortable only criticism would be the lack of cooking facilities...even a microwave would have been handy...but you don't visit a beautiful place like this to cook anyway !!

Very enjoyable. minor repairs needed to 'spruce' up the outside sitting area. (rough patch, plus drafty in one corner)

The site is excellent though excavation areas shockingly rehabilitated. Superb views and great walking but maintenance appalling. More than half the downlights did not work, and the A/C blew nothing but cold air on a REALLY cold night. Packed up to leave after first night but staff arrived and finally got warm air blowing. But there was insufficient light to read, the heating in the courtyard was inadequate, and design made it unsuited to renting with three steep steps in bathroom.

Owner's Response: Dear Rosie Thank you for your feedback after your stay at 'The Sand' at Kings Beach Retreat. We are pleased that you enjoyed the views and the walking trails. We have addressed your concerns in that we have now provided more detailed instructions on the operation of the reverse cycle air conditioning, we have replaced the down-lights with longer lasting LED lights, and placed higher wattage bulbs in the bedside lamps. The courtyard is designed to capture the winter sun. The heating is provided to take the chill from a cold and cloudy winter day - the heating is not intended to provide the equivalent warmth of an indoor heated area. The sunken living area and bathroom are an integral part of the design and experience of the retreat. As a precaution, balustrades provide additional support for those who need it. We are currently carrying out extensive renovations and re-structuring garden and outdoor living areas. This has necessitated excavations of the grounds. Kind regards, Ian

Peace and tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Went here with husband to celebrate birthday for a weekend of R and R sans kids. Within minutes of arriving I felt relaxed. We didn't want to leave. It's cosy and compact but ample sized and secluded for a romatic weekend. The veiw is amazing and it's virtually on the heyson trail so you really don't need to go anywhere else once you arrived. Of course victor is a short drive away if you need something. The ultra long road / driveway is not paved but we managed in a standard car with care but if you have a 4WD it would probably cope better.
