Galveston has an impressive fourth of July celebration (fireworks display are set off at the 37th Street jetty 3 blocks away). Thanksgiving and Christmas are another ideal time to be on the island. The summer crowds have thinned out, the weather is mild (bordering on awesome), and the atmosphere is laid back.
If it is raucious fun and excitement you're looking for, then come down for Mardi Gras (several Mardi Gras parades march down this section of Seawall Blvd. See mardigrasgalveston for details) , Spring break/ Memorial Day, or The Lone Star Bike Rally (usually the first week of November).

The first thing I noticed on arriving at the prairie style home was the beautiful landscaping and lush vegetation to complement a
beautiful corner lot home on a wide open street. The low profile picket
fence with brick columns and swing gate was great entrance to the inviting
Having lived in Galveston for 8 years, I am all to familiar with musty
odors of old homes with poor ventilation and underachieving air
conditioning. Upon entering the home the air was fresh with great AC both
upstairs and downstairs - a must in the summer months of Galveston.
The main living area is expansive yet very cozy with crisp architectural
lines that open to the dining area - all complemented with beautiful old
window seats facing east, south and west.
The kitchen has all modern amenities needed yet subtlety dove tailed into
an old home. The original "mud room" has been converted to a comfy and
warm sitting area that leads to the beautiful, lush backyard.
All the sleeping quarters (3) upstairs have great beds and the furniture is
tastefully done. The master bedroom has a nice sitting/reading area and
the view from the windows is like a tree house looking through the
beautiful trees. The spacious bathroom is crisp, clean and white with a
lion's bathtub - adaptable for a shower if you so desire. The furniture
throughout the home is tastefully done, very functional - some new - some
very beautiful antique pieces that complement this formidable unique old
I know Galveston well - lived there 8 years and frequently return at least
3 times a year. I could write reviews for the top 4 hotels. My wife and I
decided to try a home for a change and we hit the jackpot. We will not be
going back to the congested hotels...this home is very tranquil and
peaceful. My biggest concern is that after patrons read this review - it
will likely keep it more occupied when we may need it!
WOW !! This incredibly peaceful home was so hard to dart with. We could have easily stayed another week. The well kept landscaping set a tropical ambiance right off the bat. The home was nestled in a quite neighborhood however, it was within walking distance to shops, the beach and one of the best restaurant in Galveston. The home really hit all five senses of relaxation. Which is why we came to get away from the city life. Inside is a scene from an HGTV home, updated that has any homeowner in awe over the craftsmanship. Extremely clean inside. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The kitchen was immaculate and the view out to the landscaping was nice. The backyard has a table where we enjoyed the provided coffee, and watched birds fly in and out of the landscaped gardens. Overall experience was nothing but greatness. We can't wait to come back and visit this blissful home for our next vacation.
The home was perfect, located 2 blocks from seawall, great restaurants, a short drive to Strand. Will absolutely book again for vacation.
Clean and well maintained. Everything in its place, Everything we needed for stay.
This house went above and beyond all expectations! To this day, this is one of our most favorite choices!! My husband and I travel quite a bit, and we stay in VRBO rentals all over the world. We have a supper club that gets together every other month. We wanted to do something different, so decided to have a "destination supper" and spend the weekend in Galveston. What an amazing treat. The kitchen was more than well stocked. There was everything we needed, and more, to cook our 4 course dinner! The house is very charming, the beds are all very comfortable, we loved hanging out in the living room in the evenings and the property was beautiful. We were there in the summer of 2014 and I'm ready to go back!!
This home is amazing-perfect blend of history and modern comfort! Clean and well appointed! The owner thought of everything to make us feel at home! Best family vacation we have ever had!
We had a great time and the house is absolutely perfect, we highly recommend it!!!
Very cute house and very comfortable and so close to the beach!

We had an excellent time at this house. My wife and two boys absolutely loved it!
