About this property

Pearl Beach Retreat and Holiday House

Pearl Beach Retreat is a classic 1950s beach house located within the gorgeous National Trust village of Pearl Beach, just 90 minutes north of the Sydney CBD.

Set deep amongst the rainforest canopy in the tranquil northern end of the village, the house is just 250 metres (a three minute walk) from the secluded beach cove. Backing directly onto the National Park, the house is a haven for wildlife and provides the ideal location for families or couples to relax and totally unwind.

With five separate and distinctively different living areas, Pearl Beach Retreat is generous in it's proportions - providing numerous spaces for everyone to relax, unwind and/or entertain.

Featured in SMH Domain magazine in June 2009, the house has been renovated and is tastefully furnished in circa 1950's Danish furniture. It contains 3 bedrooms and expansive internal living areas which flow onto spacious outdoor entertainment areas at both the front and rear of the house.

Activities available within the local area include: swimming, surf lessons, kayaking, fishing, boat hire, tennis, golf and some amazing bush walking. Good restaurants within the area include: Pearl's, Bells (Kilcare), Patonga Hotel and those at Palm Beach are just a 20 minute ferry ride away.

Please note:
1. Pillows, blankets and donnas are provided.
2. Bed linen and bath towels are provided but not beach towels
3. A stroller, high chair and portacot are all available - but please bring your own cot linen
4. Small and medium sized dogs are allowed on application
5. No smoking is allowed inside the house.

PLEASE NOTE - WE ALWAYS RESPOND TO GUEST ENQUIRIES WITHIN 24 HOURS AND USUALLY MUCH FASTER. IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD FROM US THERE MAY BE TECHNICAL ISSUES, SO PLEASE TELEPHONE CLARE ON THE NUMBER PROVIDED BY STAYZ.

The Living Areas

FRONT DECK
Constructed in spotted gum, the large elevated front deck is nestled in the large gum trees at the front of the property. Fitted with an external shower, bench table and equipment store it provides the perfect place to enjoy afternoon drinks or load / unload all your things when coming to and from the beach.

SUNKEN LOUNGE ROOM
The lounge room is a separate space that connects to main entry and front deck. It is fitted with a four seat Parker lounge, two lounge chairs, a large coffee table, teak built-in bookshelf and a king sized day bed. It also contains a large television, DVD, VIDEO and CD players, not too mention plenty of good books, board games and jigsaw puzzles.

DINING / LIVING ROOM
This is a very generous open planned space which connects directly to the kitchen, reflection pond, BBQ island and both courtyards - via large timber framed sliding doors. It is furnished with a large teak B&B style breakfast buffet unit and a gorgeous eight seat Parker teak table.

KITCHEN
Designed for the gourmet traveler, the kitchen is incredibly well equipped with all the mod cons including fan-forced oven, gas cook top, range hood, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. Other appliances include: juicer, coffee plunger, coffee machine, toasted sandwich maker, blender, kettle, toaster, plenty of pots and pans, non stick wok etc. For those traveling with infants, there is also a highchair.

COVERED COURTYARD / BBQ ISLAND
The large rear covered courtyard is paved in travertine and opens onto the lush landscaping that leads up into the National Park. Complete with a five burner Beef Master stainless steel gas BBQ, a 12 seat teak dining table, outdoor lounge chairs all overlooking a succulent garden it provides a great space for year round al fresco dining. For those with dogs, this semi-enclosed area is also a great spot to leave them when you head out for a meal or to the beach.

REAR COURTYARD
Separated from the covered courtyard by the succulent garden and timber bridge, the rear courtyard provides an intimate and relaxing space to enjoy the great outdoors. Fitted with a teak sun bed and timber bench seats, it is the perfect place to either top up your suntan during the day, watch the wildlife (lyrebirds, bush turkeys, possums, wallabies..) or enjoy a glass of good red wine under the evening stars.

EXTERNAL SHOWER
There is also an external shower at the front of the house to wash the kids, dogs, surfboards... before entering the house.

The Bedrooms

While the house is ideally suited to eight people (two couples and four children), it can accommodate an additional two people on the king sized day bed that is located in the lounge room. Typically the sound of the ocean at night ensures everyone has a good sleep.

MAIN BEDROOM
The large master bedroom is a gorgeous space, with walls lined in Queensland Maple, extensive banks of louvres and concealed timber pelmet lighting. It is fitted with a queen sized bed, built in robes, an assortment of 1950s style light fittings, Danish teak furniture and a retro wall fan. The main bedroon has its own private ensuite bathroom, which is decorated in keeping with the theme of the house.

SECOND BEDROOM
The second bedroom is also a good size, looks out onto the rear courtyard and enjoys views into the National Park. It is fitted with a queen sized bed, an assortment of 1950s Danish teak furniture and also has walls lined in Queensland Maple.

BUNK ROOM
The bunk room is located downstairs off the main living areas. It contains two built in timber bunk beds (4 beds in total) that connect to each other via a timber ladder. The beds are slightly wider than normal and come complete with built in storage areas and reading lamps. While totally suitable for adults, kids absolutely love this space. The bunkroom also connects directly to a small wash room (toilet only) and laundry.

KING SIZED DAYBED
Adjacent the sunken lounge room is a king sized daybed which can be used to accommodate extra guests if required. Additional pillows and donnas are stored in the second bedroom cupboards for this purpose.

PORTACOT
For anyone travelling with infants, these is also a portacot kept in the house and can easily be set up in either of the two main bedrooms which are both large enough so that it doesn't get in the way. The curtains in both rooms are also double lined, marking it easier to make the dark during the day to help baby sleep.

School holiday dream
The house is beautifully set out and was perfect for our school holiday beach escape: two couples, with a 7-year-old each. Kids slept downstairs — you could comfortably fit 4 kids in the double bunks. We loved having the outdoor space as well as the two large inside living spaces, which meant there was enough space for us to time together or break apart, even when it rained. Pearl beach is a very short walk away, and a 10 minute drive to Umina for groceries and restaurants. Well equiped, clean, and excellent communication.
