About the property

Why do people come to the coast?

Well you certainly will not be disappointed at Edge House. Wake up and watch the waves breaking on Jan Juc Beach, or the stunning sunrise over the horizon.

Fully self contained holiday home. You can step back into the 1960's. We have created a fantastic RETRO feel in the house with some stunning pieces of Retro Furniture and funky accessories. If you are looking for something just a "little bit different", this totally unique property might be just the one for you.

Set in expansive grounds. Stunning panoramic ocean views and surrounded by a large farming property. This has got to be one of the best and most unique properties on the holiday rental market today. Past guests have said that the house feels like "A Home Away From Home". We offer a clean and tidy home, at an affordable price. Please don't expect 5 Star Luxury. That is not what we offer.

Comprising three bedrooms, two with DOUBLE beds and one with two singles. Quality linen and fluffy white towels provided.

We have a Brand New Kitchen with quality Miele Appliances including that all important dishwasher, and an Induction Cooktop.

OR.....make up some dough and cook up a storm in our stunning "ZESTY" Woodfired Pizza Oven....cooks a mean roast too, or if you are a little more adventurous....make some bread!

One family original 1960's bathroom. Separate toilet.

Lounge room is air conditioned with TV, FOXTEL, Home Theatre System. We have a HUGE selection of DVDs. 1960's Stereogram with fantastic collection of "Vintage Vinyl".

The dining area has a brilliant Retro table and accessories.

Huge deck overlooking the ocean, with outdoor setting. Great for that early morning cuppa.

Covered pergola and deck in the rear of the property has a Weber Q, Pizza Oven, and outdoor dining setting.

Fully equipped kitchen with coffee pod machine, microwave etc. Coffee, tea, and a host of pantry essentials.

PET FRIENDLY FULLY ENCLOSED BACK GARDEN. (Your best friend deserves a holiday too).

CCTV cameras now installed for yours and our security.

TARIFF is based on 2 adults staying for $150.00. Additional guests pay extra. Please see tariff below for details.

Things to do

Edge House is a perfect spot for a holiday whether it is a short or long stay. You are situated on the "golden mile" of Victorian surfing, starting at some of the best reef breaks around to the mecca of surfing that is Bells Beach. All these spots can be reached within a short drive. If shopping is your thing then Torquay surf shops are just a short trip down the road. Golfing your thing? The new RACV Resort and golf course is also a short walk down the Great Ocean Road. Tennis courts, a huge children's play park are down the road in Jan Juc. The Jan Juc cliffs are renowned for their magnificent formations and walking/riding tracks have been specifically built along the cliff tops enabling spectacular views along the miles of trails. The beautiful Jan Juc beach is only minutes away and is fully patrolled during the summer months. Looking for something more "child friendly" for the kids to swim, then Torquay's "Cosy Corner" offers calmer waters. For the fishermen there is good fishing straight off the beaches or at Spring Creek. Choosing somewhere to eat and drink will be the hardest choice to make, with the pub, Bird Rock Bar and Swells cafe in Jan Juc, or down the road in Torquay a myriad of choices too numerous to mention. If you don't want to move from that magnificent ocean view, just ring down to Torquay and arrange home delivery from many outlets who offer this service. Also great dining at the RACV Resort and Golf Course. Make sure you order a bottle of locally produced wine no hassle about driving, Edge House is only a 5 minute walk away. (booking is essential in peak periods). After dinner have a gamble on the numerous Poker Machines in their Gaming Room.

Great Ocean Road and Bellarine Peninsula

Jan Juc is central to take great day trips either in an east or west direction. West takes you along the Great Ocean Road, one of the most spectacular drives in the world. You will pass through picturesque beach town such as Anglesea and Lorne and through the smaller towns such as Wye River (Great Pub Grub) and Aireys Inlet. A 2 hour drive will bring you out at Apollo Bay the start of the wonderous Otway Ranges with its rugged coastline and a further hour or so and you can reach the Twelve Apostles (don't forget the camera). Along the way eateries, wineries and many other attractions, such as the Otway Fly, will ensure your day out is a memorable one.

East takes you along to the Bellarine Peninsula through Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and onto Point Lonsdale and Queensliff. From Queenscliff you can catch the ferry over to Sorrento or enjoy wandering amongst the ornate buildings of a bygone era. Point Lonsdale has great diving, and Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove are filled with small cafes and boutique shopping. Stop at Portarlington Pier and buy some mussels straight off the boat. Wineries are Olive Groves are also prevalent in this area, so stop in at Cellar Door and buy a nice local bottle to savour with those mussels!

All in all a fabulous day out.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Edge House. The owners provided everything for the perfect stay and even put the heater on for us prior to arrival. A very short walk to the beach, our fur baby had the best time ever running up and down the beach and playing with some new friends he met and the yard was fully enclosed so we didn't have to worry about him when we left him to go out for a lovely dinner. We had our family visit on the Saturday and had a bbq in the fully functional and lovely outside area. The retro decor was a bonus and reminded me of my childhood. We played records on the stereo and watched DVD's from the extensive collection. Four days wasn't enough and I am now looking forward to the next time when we can book The Edge House for a longer stay. Thank-you Jacqueline for all the effort and thought you put into making our stay so memorable.

Kind Regards

Great Views.

  • 3 of 5

House was good. Great views, it had all that we needed. Take note that “CCTV cameras now installed for yours and our security”. Disappointed to receive a text Sunday morning “Could you clarify how many guests were staying please. Also looks like you had a few four legged friends staying too. I thought you said you had two outside labradoodles?” A friend call down with her dogs and very late on Saturday she decided to stay overnight. The dogs were outside except overnight when they slept in the laundry. Booked the house back in June and didn't think to check with the owners on Saturday night as to whether having another person/dogs stay was ok. We would have been very happy to pay any additional fee for the extra person. We have been renting pet friendly properties for many years together and always leave the house as clean, sometimes cleaner, than we find it.
