Carrington Cottage is a traditional Dennes Point beachside shack looking out over beautiful D'Entrecasteaux Channel and North Bruny's Nebraska Beach.
To get to us, you will have spent a relaxing 15 minutes crossing the Channel on the car ferry, and a further 20 minutes driving north to the very tip of Bruny Island.
Although cleverly renovated to provide all the creature comforts, Carrington Cottage retains its simple beach-shack look and feel, and it is the perfect base for exploring Bruny Island's gourmet and wilderness delights.
is a popular swimming, sailing, diving, fishing and kayaking spot;
boasts fine food at the Jetty Cafe, and local "Art at the Point"
makes the perfect starting point for a self-styled gourmet trail – check out Get Shucked Oysters, and Bruny Island Cheese Co, for starters – and
is a fantastic place to head out for bushwalks, bird watching or to go whale/dolphin-spotting.
Dating from the 1950s, this traditional cottage has fully refurbished bathroom, kitchen, polished floors throughout, repainting inside and out, and wrap-around deck.
Inside, this cosy cottage offers open-plan living, kitchen, dining area and lounge (with LCD TV, DVD, books and games, wood heater, reverse-cycle heater-aircon); two bedrooms; and a separate bathroom with toilet and walk-in shower.
The shack can sleep 5 people. The master bedroom has a Queen Bed; the second bedroom offers 2 singles and a trundle. There is also a folding cot. All linen is supplied.
Outside is a gas BBQ, brazier, picnic table, laundry and sunny grassed back garden. The timber deck wraps around 3 sides of Carrington, with magnificent views from the front over Nebraska Beach and D'Entrecasteaux Channel.
Carrington Cottage is smoking-free.
We do not allow any animals on the property at all.
Mobile phone coverage on Bruny Island is variable. We do not provide a separate internet connection, but you may be able to access the internet through a "hotspot" or similar on your mobile phone. There is a public phone at the community hall.
You'll need to bring all food, toiletries and beach towels.
We provide free-of-charge tea, coffee and condiments. Basic food items are available from the Produce Store at the Jetty Cafe (2 minutes' walk north from Carrington Cottage). However, the cafe is not open every day, and evening meals may not always be available. To check visit the Jetty Cafe website.
Petrol (gasoline) is not available at Dennes Point. Petrol is available from the supermarket at Adventure Bay, about 45 minutes' drive south from the shack.
The cottage is a mere 50m to safe, clean Nebraska Beach. We are 100m from the Dennes Point boat ramp, and 300m from the jetty. For yachties and boaties, Carrington Cottage is able to provide its own all-weather mooring situated right off the shack.
Visit our island shacks website for more information on Carrington Cottage, and our Spring Beach Holiday House on Tassie's sunshine east coast. Stay at both and make the best of your holiday in Paradise.
