The Good:

The location of the apartment complex is excellent and the apartment does not have any immediate neighbours as it is at the east end of the building and the other side has the fire hose. The layout of the apartment is also good, and there is a table just inside the door that is useful for keys and such.

The Bad:

The kitchen layout is awkward (we were there a week), and the interiors of the cupboards were filthy, as was the exterior of the kettle. The cupboard that would be most useful for keeping food was full of plates and such, which contributed to the awkwardness of the kitchen. The kettle is kept next to the stove top, and was covered in fat when we arrived. While the cooker is old, most of the problems associated with using it were due to the incompatibility of the pots and pans provided. There was only one knife for food preparation (I take my own, so I cannot comment on its sharpness), and there was no tin opener.

The toilet cisterns require repair - the lids no longer fit properly, and the 'half-flush' buttons do not work. Of course, the toilets are adjacent to the bedrooms, so there are not only issues of water wastage in dry Adelaide, but also noise that continues longer than necessary and may wake people.

The rails in the built-in wardrobes are very high. The floor of the wardrobes are full of junk - old lamps, fans, vacuum cleaner. I assume other cleaning equipment is kept in the locked cupboard just inside the entrance. I hated looking at my case all week, on the bedroom floor.

The windows wind out just a fraction. Most bizarrely, some were locked, and our mid-week service consisted of Barrie coming to unlock two windows (that was it, no change of towels, etc.). Given the narrowness of the gap and the location of the apartment (4th floor), I can't imagine why they were locked. Nobody could climb through them.

Two of the towels had holes in them (what luxury), and none of them matched. They may have belonged to Barrie's father ("Barry"), or there may have been a change of name since the laundry labels were printed.

Despite the repeated promises that the apartment contained 'everything', it did not contain the roll of glad wrap I'd thought it ubiquitous in holiday apartments, any condiments, and the few toileteries supplied were either supermarket own-brand or looked like samples collected from someone's travels. The laundry detergent bottle contained insufficient detergent for even a single load.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review but if these matters were realistic they should have been discussed with us during the stay and rectified but of course that didn't happen. The guests who stayed before you and many after you did not raise any of these issues with us and hence we are extremely disappointed in such a bad review. Regards Tracey and Barrie

Great Stay

Our group of 5 thoughly enjoyed our stay at this fantastic apartment? Everything for a comfortable stay was provided and exceeded our expectations. Barry and Tracey greeted us on arrival and gave us a guided tour of area,pointing out historical sites and places to eat and best coffee.You can't beat this prime location just off Rundle Mall and beautiful parklands.Hope to rebook for next year.
