Beautiful house in quiet location
The house was really well suited for our group ( 2 couples and 2 teenagers) with different spaces to spread out or gather together. The house was comfortable and beautifully styled in a tranquil setting. The hosts were easy to contact, and worked very hard to ensure our stay went well, despite some issues that were beyond their control. Port Douglas is an outstanding destination, can't wait to return!

Wonderful property, well situated
Great property that can accommodate a few families. Quirky with the artwork, well equipped, good pool. Only a short walk into Port Douglas and the marina which made going out at night easy.

We travel the world staying in holiday rentals, so we know what makes a great holiday rental, so you will love to stay in our abodes. I am an artist. My husband, Matthew Wild is a chef, and with our two children, we are passionate about living a life thats adventurous, creative and spirited, and this shows in our homes in North Queensland and Europe. We travel a lot, but when we are not, we live between Beautiful Port Douglas, Wonga Beach and Amazing Berlin. Come and stay in our charming homes oozing art, soul and creative vibes. Our homes are created with love, lots of hard work, and a passion of collecting and creating. We search the world for items we love. As much as possible, we recycle building materials, and upcycle furniture. Our houses aren't fussy or pretentious, but they are all about charming you, making you feel great, and celebrating the creative spirit.

Why they chose this property

Both Matt and I have been based in the area since Port Douglas was a little fishing village in the early 80's. We bought this property from overseas, sight unseen, and poured a lot of love into it to turn it into our home. It was inspired by those beautiful North Queensland tropical homes of the 1970's that capture the sea breeze and embrace the environment. This property was our gorgeous home when the kids were younger. At the time, we were traveling a lot with our work, and then we holiday rented it when we traveled, but it was such a popular holiday rental (great position, great vibes, really spacious) that we then bought another home for us, and we now just share The Artists' Treehouse with other beautiful souls who seem to love it as much as we do. Each year, we spend time working on it to make it more beautiful, and more beautiful - so its an ongoing passion for creating the perfect home and the perfect holiday rental.

What makes this property unique

The house has a large set of sliding doors opening to the balcony, which looks over towering paperbark trees. The afternoon light, reflecting on the polished timber floor boards creates the most spectacular warm tones. I love sitting at the breakfast bar on the balcony, reading a book, watching the people walk by and admiring the copious amounts bird life. We also love the huge front deck. We built a great table, and having a few afternoon beers here is really lovely. For larger groups staying, having two living rooms is a real benefit - sometimes the kids can be playing downstairs, and the adults can be chilling out upstairs for an hour or two. Guest also love the huge front courtyard that the kids can play in safely. It. The kids room is perfect for the little ones.
