Gaddleen Grove Cottages

Bedrooms 2
Property type hotel

Photos and Description of this Indigo Valley holiday hotel

Gaddleen Grove Cottages offers two cottages - one being called BLUE WREN which is set at the back in an area of stringybark trees and looks towards our working farm of sheep and cattle and towards one of the numerous dams on our property. This cottage features Red Gum timber inside for cupboards and internal dividing half wall between the queen bed area and the sitting area which has ample room to add a single bed plus a fold-out when needed. Exposed beams and posts plus wooden floor all add the rustic country feel with a veranda along the front to sit and enjoy the bird life and relax in the peace and tranquility. Blue Wren Cottage was assessed wheel chair friendly with a ramp leading onto the verandah and inside also classed as suitable but we have made a few changes and it would now only be suitable for a narrow wheelchair to get through to the bed area.

In the colder months a wood heater keeps you cosy with also reverse cycle air conditioning or an electric blow heater for instant heat if your fire goes out over the night. For summer months the air conditioner is supported with a ceiling fan for a quieter nights sleep.

Bird life is abundant in the area of the cottages and the peaceful surrounds makes you want to stay longer.

Gaddleen Grove Cottages second cottage is called TREECREEPER. This again is because of the bird which can been constantly seen in the area. This cottage is positioned to take in the view overlooking the Cities of Albury/Wodonga with the view day or night quite spectacular. It also overlooks our largest dam and also offers a very peaceful and relaxing ambience with animals sometimes not far away. The timber features inside this cottage are of blackwood in the cupboards and dividing half wall from the queen bed and sitting area. Again a single bed and fold-out can be added if needed plus the veranda along the front offers the guest a great place to relax and unwind.

The same heating and cooling of Bluewren applies and again once you get to the cottages if you had only booked for one night you will wish you had time to stay for at two nights.

Gaddleen Grove Cottages and the surrounds of our 260 acre/ 104 hectre working Cattle and Sheep property that we offer guests to walk around to relax.

Gaddleen Grove has been owned by Stuart Gadd and Noeleen Nicklin for 16 years (since 1997 and the cottages have now also be operating for the past ten years and building gradually to have a rewarding working balance with the farm operation of firstly cattle only but now also sheep. We started with a "blank slate" on the property and also had to build our own home which is often of interest to our guests as it is of rammed earth and octagonal in shape. Like the cottages the home has wooden floors, dado walls and large widows to take in the magnificent views.

We are both passionate farmers and born to the land so are very happy when asked to inform our guests about life on the property and in particular life in this beautiful part of Victoria. We have four distinct seasons in this region and it is what makes us an interesting and diverse place to visit all year round.

With the farm life and in particular the sheep we now often have lambs being "poddied" in the house yard so for guests travelling with children we offer the opportunity to feed them on occasion. The other attraction can be the sighting of native animals - kangaroos, lace monitors, possums, echidnas, and the odd hare. For the bird enthusiast Stuart has sighted 80 variety of birds flying over our property and there is a bird book in bluewren cottage that encourages guests sighting any not listed to add to the list.
