About the property

RELAX & UNWIND in our self-contained, well-appointed cottage in the serene and beautiful Bega Valley.

Stroudover Cottage is a contemporary, two-bedroom, purpose-built guest house in a quiet setting, providing self-catering holiday accommodation to discerning guests who expect the comforts of home, while enjoying a relaxing holiday in the beautiful countryside of the Bega Valley. The cottage is located on a fully fenced six acre property and offers spectacular pastoral views to the surrounding mountains.

Stroudover Cottage is located near Bemboka at the foot of Brown Mountain, two hours drive from Canberra and about 40-50 minutes drive to the dog-friendly beaches of the Sapphire Coast making it an ideal base to explore the local then escape from the hubbub to the tranquility of the property.

Stroudover Cottage is a dog-friendly property and you are welcome to bring along your well-trained companion dog(s), but we ask that you bring your dog's own bedding and that flea/tick treatments and vaccinations are current. Dogs are allowed inside the cottage, if they are allowed in your own home. However, regardless of their home 'rights', they are not allowed on the furniture, or in the bedrooms of the cottage.

The gardens of Stroudover Cottage and the whole 6 acre property of Stroudover are fully fenced, providing you with peace of mind if your dog is an escape artist.

Please note that dogs must be supervised at all times.

This means, so that there are no misunderstandings, dogs are not left alone in the cottage whilst the owner pops out for the day, nor are they left alone, either for the day or just generally loose, in either the cottage gardens or 2 acres of paddock surrounding the cottage.

While staying at the cottage, you can also indulge in a multi-course gourmet meal or take part in special cooking events. These are arranged through correspondence prior to arrival. For more details contact the owner.

For your comfort, smoking is not allowed in the cottage, but you may smoke on the verandah, if you wish.

Our style at Stroudover Cottage is luxury rural country and as such our accommodation is not suited for children under 12 years of age.

The Cottage

Stroudover Cottage features raked ceilings, wood wainscoting in the lounge/dining area, tiled floors throughout, reverse-cycle airconditioning, ceiling fans in each room, and a Eureka wood-burning stove for those chilly nights. There is also a radio/CD player, a TV and DVD player, and numerous books and games for our guests' entertainment.

Large north-facing windows, one with a glass sliding door out to the verandah, provide stunning views of the mountains. When the sun shines, a 5kW solar power generation system supplies clean, green electricity to the cottage; and solar panels on the roof provide your hot water from the 20,000 litre rainwater tank. It is most wonderful to drink, although some bottled drinking water is provided for those who prefer it.

The Master bedroom, with views to the north, contains a king-sized bed, built-in wardrobe, bedside tables, lamps, chair and rugs. The second bedroom also contains a king-sized bed, comprising of two mattresses each with their own doona, built-in wardrobe, bedside tables, lamps and rugs. Lived up to expectations

  • 5 of 5

We chose Stroadover due to its location. Reasonable pricing and previous reviews. When I hesitated I read the comments regards dogs welcome and that the property had exceptional fencing. We were not disappointed. The accomodation was spotless, gardens were maintained and obviously loved. The fencing was top end and must have cost a pretty penny. Put my mind at ease with our little escape artist. The food offered for preorder tasted delicious and Patrick is a witty gent with obviously high end hospitality experience. Mountains surrounding the cottage are magical. Money well spent with no regrets. Thank you Stroadover, your attention to detail is a credit to your heritage x

Fantastic get away

  • 5 of 5

This is an excellent property to get away from it all. Situated amongst idyllic mountains & cattle farmland, Stroudover is relaxing, peaceful and beautiful.

Patrick was an excellent host who made us feel welcome from the outset and ensured our stay was an enjoyable one.

The house itself offers fantastic views of the countryside countryside from all rooms, is very well equipped for families or couples and is comfortable.

We loved that our day trips to the coast were a short 30 minute drive away and we could return to this lovely property without the holiday crowds to contend with.

We highly recommend Stroudover for a relaxing getaway to the picturesque South Coast.

We wanted somewhere Mum, Dad, 17 and 15 could relax, enjoy some country scenery and bring our three canine buddies with us. Stroudover Cottage was just heaven for all of us. Comfortable, incredibly clean, warm, peaceful and surrounded by a huge safe yard for the dogs. We have stayed in lots of holiday rentals and it had one of best kitted-out kitchens we had ever seen. We enjoyed a walk into Bemboka for a yummy pie, a drive to Candelo markets and exploring the boardwalk around Merimbula Lake - plus spending many hours sipping on wine and contemplating the hills of the South East Forests National Park which surround the property like a huge natural amphitheatre. Patrick and Heike were lovely hosts and close by if needed - many thanks for a wonderful stay.

peaceful, relaxing - spend time with your dogs

  • 5 of 5

I had an enjoyable few days with my two dogs in June 2016. The peace and quiet and beauty of Stroudover Cottage are a balm to the soul. It has great facilities and loved playing with the fire. It is very easy to spend time there and just relax. It was fantastic for the dogs as they were able to potter around freely and enjoy all the new smells. Will definitely be back :-)

Fantastic getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Stroudover. The cottage is everything all the reviews promise. Well set out, well kitted and wonderful hosts. It is easy to access the delights of the region. Patrick has thought of everything.

The fact that we could spend this special time away with our pups was excellent. They absolutely loved the garden and the gorgeous Stroudover girls.

We were also spoilt to an awesome 5 course meal prepared right in the cottage by Patrick which was sensational!

We will be back for the cheese course:)
