Michelle is an avid gardener, and lover of food and wine. I found my paradise in Chile, where there are the freshest organic vegetables, outstanding wines and some of the most delicious olive oil that I have ever tasted. And what could be better than being able to cultivate many of these riches on my own property.
Michelle purchased this house in 2009
The Mediterranean climate is unbeatable. At the Casa Ishi Villa we are minutes away from some the best wineries in the world. A half hour from the Andes mountains, where there is a wide range of outdoor activity to suit your needs. And less than an hour from the center of Santiago and the international airport. It is hard to find a more convenient location.
Chile is unlike any other country in South America. Because of its natural beauty, high literacy rate, and fairly stable political situation, it can be best described as the Switzerland of the south. Chile is a paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Within the country, one can find a diverse variety of landscapes including vineyards, volcanoes, deserts, beaches, lakes, glaciers and forests. Nature, culture, food and people just are few of the reasons to visit Chile.
Come and enjoy!

Very best and warm greetings from the four norwegians enjoying Casa Ishi!!
Stayed for two wonderful weeks on this beautiful Property. Michelle and her husband where wonderful hosts and made sure we were very comfortable. The fruit trees on the property give sweet aromas. The grapes that grow on several different vines are delicious. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Beds were VERY comfortable and many pillows to choose from. Hot water was instant and very hot. Great location for exploring the vineyards. Also for exploring the near by volcano and mule rides. Perfect for a family. Would highly recommend this property!!!
Gorgeous property with fruit trees, flowers, herbs, and green. The lodging has a charm indicative of Tuscany meets New Mexico but I was told is very Chilean and quit beautiful. Super comfortable beds and quaint private bedrooms with a wonderful hot full pressure shower in the bathroom I had. Easy to cook and our family even used the clay oven and the BBQ to make fun food while we were there(Little Chilean market nearby and bigger store ten minutes away). Multiple lounging deck areas with views of the canyon or gardens. Every night I went to sleep listening to the river cascade below. We sat and read, took naps, ate fruit and day tripped to the El Morado Glacier nearby to hike, Latin America's largest winery(Concha Y Toro) and walked/hiked in a nearby Reserve(Clarillo). Not far from Santiago if you crave "city" while staying there. We checked out villages and there were multiple vineyards around for wine lovers. Such variety!
It was incredibly restful and our hosts were awesome, coming to chat, check in, and see if there was any help on where to go and what to see.
I highly recommend.
The grounds at Casa Ishi are beautiful w lots of fruit trees and lawn furniture. Very relaxing. Plus wonderful adventures await nearby. We hiked El Morado glacier one day, rode mules to the top of the Andes and saw a condor another day, and then went to the largest winery in the world today, El Concho Del Toro.
We stayed in Casa Ishi over Thanks Giving break and were very lucky to meet with Michele and Kenji, who are the perfect hosts, very attentive and nice! The house is a charming old countryside property, nicely modernised, finely decorated and spacious, with a wonderful terrace with nice views to the mountains and surrounded by farms and huge trees...we spent very relaxing afternoons there, drinking wine at sunsets.
We were a group of 4 people, but the house would have easily accommodated six.The kitchen was very well equipped and we cooked everyday, taking full advantage of the fruits that Michele kindly encouraged us to collect from the trees around the house: nesperas, oranges, sour cherries...
It's very close to the wineries of Maipo, but a car is essential to better explore the area. It's relatively easy to drive in Chile, although having a local in the group helped with finding the best routes and shortcuts.
You can not go wrong renting Casa Ishi! If we are going back to Chile, we are definitely not wasting any time in Santiago, we'll go directly there!
We stayed at Casa Ishi for one week, September 18-25th, 2016.
The property is beautiful with fine gardens and shady trees. The accommodation (there were 3 couples) was excellent. We were able to easily cook many meals in the kitchen and outside BBQ and had use of the laundry washing facilities. The resident gardener made us welcome as did the “resident” dogs.
The one drawback to this property is its isolated location. Thank heavens for the recommendation made by the owner to contact a tour agent who arranged for pickup at the airport. We arrived on the busiest day of the year (Sept. 18) and negotiating driving to the property would have been a huge challenge (especially since none of us speak Spanish). We employed the driver to take us for a one day tour of Valparaiso another day to Santiago and to a local “fonda”-fair. He also drove us to a lovely restaurant one evening (there are many dining places in the vicinity). Our driver was very competent and always showed up as requested, however it would have been nice to have had access to a vehicle so that we could have explored the nearby regions on our own. (additionally a driver certainly adds to the cost of the vacation). Walking anywhere was not really possible as roads here are narrow, with no sidewalks; other homes are safely “insulated” behind large walls and fences and we were many kilometres from a grocery shop or vineyard.
After 3 happily hectic weeks touring in Peru, we were glad to have some “down” time at Casa Ishi, but would know to arrange a car rental for at least part of the visit should we come again.
Access to an area map-perhaps highlighting some of the main points of interest would also have been useful.
So close to Santiago and yet a different world. We loved our stay in the country - the gardens and house manager are lovely. We wanted a quick weekend wine excursion outside of the city, just two couples and a toddler. It's close enough to Santiago that our local friend's nanny could come watch the little one for the day so the adults could go wine tasting. We also had a professional chef come and cook a custom dinner the first night - happy to share his contact info (very reasonable and so fun!). The kitchen isn't large, but it's open to the dining area so it was an engaging experience. Lastly - the owner recommended a new restaurant at Las Majadas, don't miss!.
We would highly recommend this home.
