The Casa Ishi villa welcomes guests, on our expansive 2.5-acre, 10,000 square meter property, with a spectacular super dry Mediterranean climate. Relax in the southern hemisphere, where you can experience superb weather from October through April.

Enjoy the best that Chile has to offer – food, wine, outdoor activities and spectacular weather, while relaxing in the countryside in a private villa. And you are only 30 miles from the center of Santiago. Casa Ishi is located in San Juan de Pirque, a semi-rural area in the renowned Maipo Valley. This is the most celebrated appellation in Chile, home to some of the oldest vineyards in South America. Nearby wineries include Concha y Toro, Almaviva, Haras de Pirque, Cousiño Macul, De Martino and Santa Rita, where you can have tours, tastings and dine on fine cuisine.

Casa Ishi is only 10 minutes from the center of Pirque there you can shop in our brand new super market, eat in local restaurants and cafes, gas up your car, access the ATM, or visit the distinguished Concha Y Toro Winery located right in the middle of Pirque. For outdoor enthusiasts, we are on the road to the San Francisco glacier and access to the Andes. This is a great alternative to staying in Santiago, and we are an easy 50-minute drive from the Santiago airport!

The two-story guest villa provides an expansive living room, dining room and kitchen, wood beamed ceilings, and sliding glass doors opening onto a fabulous private terrace. Enjoy a bottle of wine watching the sunset from your terrace. The 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are located on the floor below, with another private terrace, trellised with a grape arbor. The bedrooms are furnished with top quality queen beds and fine linens. A newly renovated bathroom, features a skylight in the shower.

Casa Ishi, is an oasis. It’s the perfect choice for a family vacation, or for close friends to spend quality time together in your own private house. Century old palm trees lace our majestic gardens, along with gorgeous perennial flowering plants. Wander through our bountiful property, where you can pick fruit from our apricot, avocado, fig, lemon, orange, plum, walnut trees and grape arbors. Have a private chef prepare scrumptious meals in our mud oven, stone barbecue or in your fully equipped kitchen, or dine in colorful local restaurants.

About Michelle

Michelle is an avid gardener, and lover of food and wine. I found my paradise in Chile, where there are the freshest organic vegetables, outstanding wines and some of the most delicious olive oil that I have ever tasted. And what could be better than being able to cultivate many of these riches on my own property.

Michelle purchased this house in 2009

Why Michelle chose Chile

The Mediterranean climate is unbeatable. At the Casa Ishi Villa we are minutes away from some the best wineries in the world. A half hour from the Andes mountains, where there is a wide range of outdoor activity to suit your needs. And less than an hour from the center of Santiago and the international airport. It is hard to find a more convenient location.

What makes this house unique

Chile is unlike any other country in South America. Because of its natural beauty, high literacy rate, and fairly stable political situation, it can be best described as the Switzerland of the south. Chile is a paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Within the country, one can find a diverse variety of landscapes including vineyards, volcanoes, deserts, beaches, lakes, glaciers and forests. Nature, culture, food and people just are few of the reasons to visit Chile.

Come and enjoy!

Paradise in Maipo River!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Casa Ishi over Thanks Giving break and were very lucky to meet with Michele and Kenji, who are the perfect hosts, very attentive and nice! The house is a charming old countryside property, nicely modernised, finely decorated and spacious, with a wonderful terrace with nice views to the mountains and surrounded by farms and huge trees...we spent very relaxing afternoons there, drinking wine at sunsets.

We were a group of 4 people, but the house would have easily accommodated six.The kitchen was very well equipped and we cooked everyday, taking full advantage of the fruits that Michele kindly encouraged us to collect from the trees around the house: nesperas, oranges, sour cherries...

It's very close to the wineries of Maipo, but a car is essential to better explore the area. It's relatively easy to drive in Chile, although having a local in the group helped with finding the best routes and shortcuts.

You can not go wrong renting Casa Ishi! If we are going back to Chile, we are definitely not wasting any time in Santiago, we'll go directly there!

Peaceful solitude in hills near Santiago

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Casa Ishi for one week, September 18-25th, 2016.

The property is beautiful with fine gardens and shady trees. The accommodation (there were 3 couples) was excellent. We were able to easily cook many meals in the kitchen and outside BBQ and had use of the laundry washing facilities. The resident gardener made us welcome as did the “resident” dogs.

The one drawback to this property is its isolated location. Thank heavens for the recommendation made by the owner to contact a tour agent who arranged for pickup at the airport. We arrived on the busiest day of the year (Sept. 18) and negotiating driving to the property would have been a huge challenge (especially since none of us speak Spanish). We employed the driver to take us for a one day tour of Valparaiso another day to Santiago and to a local “fonda”-fair. He also drove us to a lovely restaurant one evening (there are many dining places in the vicinity). Our driver was very competent and always showed up as requested, however it would have been nice to have had access to a vehicle so that we could have explored the nearby regions on our own. (additionally a driver certainly adds to the cost of the vacation). Walking anywhere was not really possible as roads here are narrow, with no sidewalks; other homes are safely “insulated” behind large walls and fences and we were many kilometres from a grocery shop or vineyard.

After 3 happily hectic weeks touring in Peru, we were glad to have some “down” time at Casa Ishi, but would know to arrange a car rental for at least part of the visit should we come again.

Access to an area map-perhaps highlighting some of the main points of interest would also have been useful.

Lovely property in the country, but so convenient to Santiago.

  • 5 of 5

So close to Santiago and yet a different world. We loved our stay in the country - the gardens and house manager are lovely. We wanted a quick weekend wine excursion outside of the city, just two couples and a toddler. It's close enough to Santiago that our local friend's nanny could come watch the little one for the day so the adults could go wine tasting. We also had a professional chef come and cook a custom dinner the first night - happy to share his contact info (very reasonable and so fun!). The kitchen isn't large, but it's open to the dining area so it was an engaging experience. Lastly - the owner recommended a new restaurant at Las Majadas, don't miss!.

We would highly recommend this home.

Beautiful home and gardens

  • 5 of 5

I recently spent several days at Casa Ishi before a hiking trip to Patagonia. Casa Ishi is a wonderful contrast to Patagonia: calm and peaceful and sunny, a great place to relax before a more arduous trek. The grounds are spectacular with lush, beautiful gardens. Delicious fresh fruit grows on the property and there's even a traditional Chilean mud oven for cooking pizza, empanadas, etc and a huge stone barbecue, both located in a nice shady spot under a big old walnut tree. Our rooms were perfectly appointed and lovely. The owners are attentive hosts who know how to make their guests comfortable and happy.

Country retreat with city visit

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently spent a few days at Casa Ishi. What we most enjoyed was the opportunity to do both country and city at the same time. One particular day we arranged for a car to take us in to Santiago ( a little under an hour) where we visited the wonderful Museo del Arte Precolumbina and the quite moving Museo de la Memoria. After a delicious lunch at a restaurant recommended by the owners of Casa Ishi, we spent the afternoon at La Chascona, Pablo Neruda's home in Santiago - a fascinating place. We were picked up by the driver and delivered back to the beautiful grounds of Casa Ishi where we could pick a few grapes from the arbor and relax on our deck with a view of the valley below us. A perfect day.

Loved Our Special Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Ishi was the highlight of our weeklong trip to Chile. The lush environment with mature trees and abundant flowers was a warm welcome after a day of sightseeing in Santiago - the property is so nice we almost didn't want to leave for our tours everyday. Also, the large terrace off the kitchen was the perfect spot for morning coffee, but was especially nice in the evening with a glass of wine while watching the sun set, so beautiful. We had great weather on our visit which the locals told us was generally the rule for that area, warm and sunny during the day but cool at night (perfect sleeping temp). Overall a great home-base for exploring Santiago and Chile - total privacy and with a view, loved it!
