We have owned the surrounding properties since 1969. In 1993, our parents were tired of living without a yard in their retirement apartment over our office that they moved to in 1983 from Leawood, KS. We had purchased some older neglected homes and tore them down and built a duplex for my sister in 1982 and modified that design and purchased some more property to tear down and build this unit on for my parents. They lived here until our father's health declined and we built the handicapped unit on the lot next door. My sister moved into this unit and was connected to our parents by intercom and the bridge in the back yard. They are now gone and we didn't want to rent it to just anyone. So we decided to rent it short term. I live across the street at 4520 with my college age son who is living at home while attending the Kansas City Art Institute. Our office is now in Vicki's home next door at 4517 Bell. We have what some call a compound, where our tenants are like our extended family and our friends. So we thought we would give the short term rental thing a go. We may swap out which unit is the best vacation rental as we go along but this is a nice one.

We have been a part of West Plaza since 1969 when we purchased the commercial buildings across the street for our office and got a house with it in the deal. Since then we have purchased other properties in the block for our worker's to live in and then my cousins as they grew up. We love West Plaza. It is a very eclectic neighborhood. New and old, homeowner's, rentals and little business districts all contribute to the neighborhood. www.westplaza.org is the neighborhood website. We have two coffee shops within 2 blocks of all of our homes. We have a wide variety of restaurants and food places too!! All within the blocks of our neighborhood.

Great floorplan for large gatherings while in town visiting family or friends, or a couples retreat/get together with friends from different parts of the country, very centrally located for a meet in the middle destination.
