Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Anthony,

On behalf of my family I would like to thank you for our amazing week at your beautiful home. My 22 year-old son said as we walked through the house when we arrived, “Mom and dad, you ‘booking nailed it’”. It is just an amazing home and we repeatedly talked about coming back in the future. We had fairly crummy weather for the week but it didn’t really make a difference. We visited family, did lots of Maine-type stuff (Two Lights, LL Bean, Rafting, Hiking) and enjoyed just hanging out at the house. Two different nights we played “Capture the Flag” outside in the pitch dark. When is the last time you saw 8 adults (ages 22-53) running through the woods and crawling around on the ground to win a game? The ping-pong table revived old rivalries and my 12 year-old learned that she could survive without TV for a week. She said she didn’t even miss it. With a room for everyone and space to spread out, we weren’t on top of each other and therefore didn’t get in each other’s space. What great gathering spaces you’ve created with the amply sized dining area, sun room, and great room. It was so wonderful to just “be” together.

Thank you for sharing your home with us. We will definitely be back. It won’t be for a couple of years, but do you ever have the week between Christmas and New Year’s open?

Thanks for providing a venue for great family time and rejuvenation.

I'm not sure how to put into words how absolutely beautiful this cabin is. This was our 2nd stay at the cabin. It does not disappoint. We stayed at he cabin from June 26 thru July 1st.

Even without a TV the kids LOVED the cabin. There is so much for them to do. They were amazed with the game room and loved watching movies on the comfy sofas in the media room. We were a little nervous that they would become bored but that never once happen and we were there for a week!

The adults also loved it! The hot tub was amazing and the dining area off the kitchen was used to create the best memories as we sat around the table and played Pokeno, Bingo, and card games.

We loved the fact the cabin was away from everything and so peaceful but town is such a short drive away. We couldn't have asked for a better week of fresh air, peace and quiet, and family! Everyone in the area is so nice and always willing to help out in any way! I can’t begin to tell you how at home they make you feel.

Thank you again Rauseo family for opening your beautiful home to us. We look forward to our next visit. YES, we we're planning another visit before we even left the cabin.

Do NOT hesitate to book this cabin, I promise you will not be disappointed and will enjoy every minute there!

Thanks again from the Connecticut Crew.

Owner's Response: Monique, it was my pleasure hosting the Rivas family a.k.s "The Rivas Family". We welcome you back any time and don't forget we have another log cabin across the street for 6-7 people . Anthony and the entire Rauseo clan PS Don't tell the kids but in the multimedia room, next to the xBox One console, there are 4-5 cables for plugging in any type of iPhone, iPad, laptop etc. so TV is fully available through Comcast streaming , Netflix, Hulu etc. We have a very high speed internet line into the home for this. I don't even tell my own family about this capability as good quality family time is so hard to come by these days and TV and social media have made it much harder to get everyone together in a room.

Heavenly Peaceful, Large but Cozy, Very Accommodating!

Stayed for a few days to celebrate a 70th birthday with family. Our time together was blissful. The grandchildren called it awesome. (Two generations expressing the same experience using different language). The cabin is situated perfectly, the setting; woods. Its in the woods. No better setting for a family to spend quality time together with no distractions from today's busy life style. Talk about "comfort food" The kind Grandma use to make. Well this is "comfort living". The kind Grandma use to create. That special feeling you would only experience in her home.

The cabin has all the amenities necessary for a pleasant and convenient stay. Although we weren't looking for any other activities other than spending time in the cabin, we learned about many nearby outdoor activities for any season. In the near future we look forward to taking advantage of such, partaking of the best of both worlds.

We also learned the owner has a smaller cabin called Black Bear Cabin located just down the road. Plan on taking grandma there in June for our wedding anniversary. Letcha know how that turns out.

A wonder in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

Mr. Rauseo's Big Bear Cabin is truly spectacular. I honestly feel like I've arrived at my own home when I stay here. We slept each guest comfortably, and no issues with the lavatories. The kitchen is great and anything you could need utensil wise is available. Same can be said for cooking spices etc. The breakfast/reading nook has become my favorite place to enjoy at Big Bear. Everything was very clean and well kept. I look forward to renting this Cabin again.

Thank you

Beautifully peaceful home with everything a family needs for a terrific timeout!

  • 5 of 5

Great place to be. Near several small towns with lots of restaurants, grocery stores, lakes and tons of activities available. The home was magnificent and had all you or your children of any age need to be entertained. If you run, hike or love to walk, there are quiet hilly roads with plenty of space for you. Woods, rivers, mountains and hiking trails a stones throw away.

We will be back for sure.

Anthony was a gracious host. Amazing home.

The photos don't do this home justice. Tranquil setting, country decor, (so many bears in this home...count them on a rainy day! ) We rented for a week in August for our son's wedding. It was our home base for many of our friends....we enjoyed group breakfast and napped in the reading area, toasted the stars by the fire pit, so much to do. The game room was great fun, for the 14 year old and the old guys. There was a hiccup with the new hot tub that was quickly resolved. Make sure you arrived during's tucked back in the woods. Great memories were made here.

Perfect log cabin in remote location

  • 4 of 5

Beautifully built luxury log cabin with all facilities. Excellent downstairs games and movie room. Great hot tub and excellent living facilities. Only reason not given a 5 stars was that there was 8 of us and with only 2 showers and restrooms all being downstairs it made for being busy. There are 4 bedrooms in all, other beds are on the balcony. Also hardly any curtains anywhere so take some eye masks.

Our bin although secure was raided on several nights and although we didn't see the bear we saw his footprints! A magical experience and a very helpful owner.
