This is a lovely family and dog-welcoming home for relaxing getaways in any season - cool in summer, cozy warm throughout the cooler months. 400 metres to high tide, it is a short walk over the dunes to the magnificent Sandy Point beach (with life-saving club), close to the general store, tennis courts, kiddies playground, 5 minutes drive to Shallow Inlet, 30 mins drive to Wilsons Prom National Park, 25 mins to Foster and the South Gippsland hospital.
Highest level (BAL FZ) bushfire rated and highly insulated with passive solar design for excellent thermal comfort. Dog friendly (no cats), kid friendly (trampoline) three bedroom, two living spaces designed to comfortably accommodate two families, sleeping up to 9 people. Free NBN wifi is available with a folding desk in the second living space for "working from home".
Bright open plan living/dining/kitchen with reverse cycle air conditioner and woodheater with has a child safety guard. Well equipped kitchen has fridge, small dishwasher, oven with separate grill, microwave, sandwich maker, rice cooker, large slow cooker, mixers, crepe and toastie makers etc, designed to make for happy chefs! TVs in both lounge and second kids living space, with inbuilt DVD in small kids' TV. Folding table/desk in the second kids' living space. Two adult bedrooms with queen sized beds plus a kids' bedroom sleeping 5 with two bunks, a single bed, extra mattress available. Separate sofa bed and folding privacy screen in the kids' space if needed, good for teens wanting a bit of their own space. Summer and winter doonas and pillows provided (BYO linen*). Has separate unique 5 star WC, main bathroom with bath/shower and toilet, and laundry with washing machine.
Wide covered decks with folding chairs and outside table, wonderful hot outside shower for beach goers, room to park a small boat. Large above ground Olympic quality trampoline, with wide pads but no vertical netting. Two small but effective electric BBQs. Securely fenced for non-jumping dogs, fences minimum 1.1m high.
Eco-friendly features include passive solar design, thick double glazed windows and doors, rooftop solar, 5 star WC, solid bamboo floor, ceiling fans throughout and compost bins for food waste. Hard wired fire alarms. No smoking inside, wet shoes/feet on the bamboo floor or dogs directly on furniture please as it makes the furniture smelly and too hard to keep clean.
This is a good house to try out if you are thinking of doing energy efficient, bushfire rated building or renovating! Proudly built by Holmesglen TAFE final year apprentices, transported in two parts and installed onto site in Dec 2009. The property is managed by the owner who hopes guests really enjoy staying in her much-loved house, and is contactable at all times to deal promptly with any issues that may arise.
