The Deweyshack, Kioloa NSW

Bedrooms 3
Space 85 m²
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

The Deweyshack, a charming rustic 3-bedroom cottage, nestles at the edge of a very large and vibrant garden abounding with native wildlife, fruit and citrus trees. It is an oasis of tranquility with massive bushland views yet minutes away from stunning beaches (dog-on-lead, Merry and Kioloa), excellent fishing, snorkeling, kayaking and surfing, and the beckoning trails of the Murramarang National Park. Enjoy the cool breezes on the large deck looking out to bushland over treetops in summer or dine alfresco in the newly constructed outdoor garden setting. Delight in the comforting warmth of the fireplace when it's cold outside after long bushwalks in the nearby national forest or strolls along the beach. This huge and unique half-acre battle axe block which is fully fenced and securely gated provides OFF STREET PARKING for 2 cars. Parking in the backyard for your additional cars, trailered boats, kayaks, mountain bikes, canoes and other similar larger toys is available on written request but subject to management's discretion. Additional charges will apply. WE ACCEPT DOGS (maximum of 2): well-behaved and toilet-trained dogs are allowed inside but never on furniture and only by written prior arrangement on application. Merry Beach Take-away and convenience store (3 minute walk away) has ATM, daily newspapers, fresh bread and milk, yummy fish and chips, burgers, cappucino, etc. Next door is Kioloa's own, Merry Street Restaurant open most days, healthy food, reasonable $$. An IGA supermarket, chemist, bakery, bottle shop, news agency and a takeaway (pizzas are yummo!!!) are a short drive to the Bawley Point shops. Walk to Pretty Beach, or hike along the coastline and national park to Pebbly Beach, enjoy comfortable 4-wheel driving in the surrounding bush to get to Pigeon Mountain, Berry Farm and Shallow Crossing. Sample wine at local wineries and fine dining at various award-winning restaurants further north at Ulladulla (Cupitt's, Millard's), Mollymook (Tallwood and Bannister's), Milton (St. Isidore's). Milton is a shopper's paradise - lots of little boutique stores and cafes. As you're heading north, try the Burrill Lake fisho on Prince's Highway for the freshest catch of the day fish and chips, prawns, oysters, and locally caught fish. Or head south for weekend markets at Bateman's Bay, Mogo, Moruya, Narooma and beyond - the list goes on. You will never run out of things to do and places to see and visit during your stay with us, no matter what the season. Kioloa and the South Coast have so much to offer all year round and we know you'll want to keep coming back. Then when you need to relax, unwind, enjoy some quiet time, or just veg out, you will want to come home to the peace and comfort of the Deweyshack. If you must, there is reasonable mobile phone and mobile WiFi (BYO) reception for your devices at the top of driveway.

We accept online credit card payments via the Stayz Online Payment system as well as staggered payments (time permitting) via direct deposits into our nominated bank account. Enquire on application. We love having guests and will pass on savings when possible so that the Deweyshack is occupied at most times. We have a MINIMUM 2 nights stay policy. One night stay allowed subject to management's discretion AND surcharge of 40 per cent. Enquire on application. Maximum 7 residents are allowed including kids. Beds are: queen in main bedroom, double in bedroom 2, and bunk (single top, double below) in kids' bedroom 3. BRING YOUR OWN BED LINEN AND TOWELS. Our Property Manager resides nearby and is able to provide assistance if required. Garden maintenance is done year round so you may see our gardener from time to time. We'll advise you of any garden work beforehand.

We are deeply appreciative and encouraged by positive reviews from our guests, and we continue to improve the property so they feel it's their second home - their favourite holiday venue. We take pride and are inspired by our steadily increasing number of satisfied repeat customers as testament to a job well done. First photo is the Deweyshack 7 years ago when we bought the property. Last photo (#21) is the Deweyshack today - it has been repainted an eco-gray colour outside and off-white inside, floorboards installed in living areas, and the main bathroom refreshed with floor to ceiling tiles. An ALL NEW contemporary kitchen was installed Aug 2016 - new layout, new cupboards, new appliances. A drip coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, and wood-fired heater were added to our list of creature comfort and improvements. ALREADY IN: Large digital flat screen LCD TV and DVD in the living room, second digital TV in main bedroom, MP3 stereo, iPod/iPhone dock, vacuum cleaner, 4-burner gas BBQ, portable free standing heaters in each bedroom, upright fans and evaporative cooler for summer.

We are only able to post a few chosen feedback from guests cuz we're fast running out of space. Check out the rest in our guestbook at the property and add your own when you visit:

A great place within walking distance from beautiful beaches. Deck is very private and relaxing, overlooking the rainforest and lovely sound of so many birds. The large fenced garden is perfect for dogs. Cosy fire kept us warm. If you are looking for a hidden secret paradise, THIS IS IT! Chantal, 26/8/2017

For my partner and I, the Dewsbury had a very relaxed and homelike atmosphere. Most importantly. our two senior dogs felt welcomed and comfortable knowing they could be by ourside, whilst enjoying their beach time. It was a pleasure to stay here for a mini break

Cosy home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a couple of lovely days at Deweyshack - comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean, with excellent facilities. Set amongst delightful bushland and just a short walk to the beach and to the beautiful nearby national park. Dog friendly was a big bonus. Look forward to returning in the future.

Cosy little wonder

  • 5 of 5

We've just had a lovely couple of days at The Deweyshack in gorgeous Kioloa. This is the second time we have stayed but the first outside of summer. The fireplace kept the whole house warm and cosy at night time and provided a very nice backdrop for relaxed evenings on the couch. This is a charming little house on a large block nestled in trees, feeling secluded and private. It had been left nice and tidy for us and we didn't find anything to be lacking. In fact there had been some nice improvements since we last stayed, such as a new side deck. The owner is very enthusiastic about the house and pleasant to deal with. We look forward to coming back again soon.
