About Judy Walsh

After 25 years as a corporate executive, I have begun a new career as an innkeeper with my vacation rental in Austin. With my love of travel, and background in marketing and sales, it is the perfect fit. My husband Dennis and I have stayed in VRBOs for many years and so I have a good sense of what guests need and want for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We absolutely love the live music scene in Austin, and the youthful, spontaneous nature of urban living. We are avid bikers and spend a lot of time exploring the bike trails and paths around town. Everything we do is within a few mile radius of our home, including our vacation rental. That means we can make sure everything is in top shape for our guests, and respond quickly should any problems arise.

Why Judy Walsh chose Austin

We moved here in 1982 and stayed for 17 years as we developed our careers and businesses, and started our family. In the late 90’s opportunity took us away for 10 years. In 2009, we chose to come back “home” to our favorite place to live, Austin, Texas., with its relaxed lifestyle, friendly hospitality, and edgy personality.

What makes this townhome unique

This is the perfect place to be in central Austin. Our vacation home is right on the west edge of the downtown core, just outside the historic Clarksville neighborhood. There is hike and bike trail access just around the corner, which is a fun way to explore around town. And if you want to go for a night on the town, the cab fare home is about $6.

The list of conveniences is endless, but we love it that Austin Java is right across the street, not only for coffee, but they also have great food for breakfast, lunch and casual dinner. A great selection of beers on tap is just 100 steps away at The Tavern. Plus, you can walk to Whole Foods, Waterloos Records where they sometimes have live music in the parking lot, Book People, and the Capitol.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The downstairs toilet that was reported as wobbly has been fixed and also has a new flapper.

Loved this house!

  • 5 of 5

Four of my girlfriends and I had a "college reunion" in Austin last weekend. The house was absolutely perfect! Super clean, great back porch (where we spent lots of hours drinking coffee and chatting!) Loved Austin Java and the Tavern, both right across the street, and we were able to walk to Whole Foods and check out the bars on 6th. Also went for a long run through Pease Park. Thank you Judy for an excellent weekend!

A wonderful stay!

  • 4 of 5

Excellent place to stay! We were able to walk to many sites within a mile or two: the Capitol, the University, 6th Street, the Congress Avenue bridge (aka, "bat bridge"), the Umlauf Sculpture Gardens, Lady Bird Lake, etc. The house is cozy, clean, comfortable, and fully stocked. Even though it is close-in to town, it is quiet, sheltered by trees from traffic noise, and (mostly) we slept well. We would have given a 5-star rating except for the critter in the walls that woke us with it's banging at 6:30 AM! The house is on a small arroyo, so it is close to nature. We called Judy, who was immediate in her action, and I'm sure it will be gone by the time you come to visit. Thank you, Judy, for everything! We hope to be back.

Great weekend away to Austin

  • 5 of 5

The place was great enough for what we were looking for that this was actually our second time to stay here. One downstairs bedroom, one upstairs bedroom and a loft with large bed made for a great stay. Stocked kitchen in case you want to do your own cooking (we actually preferred not to this time) along with a nice patio to relax on outside. The plce was very clean and comfortable for our stay. Java coffee and Bacon are two great breakfast places within walking distance. There's a tavern right across the street. And we biked to Zilker Park which passes downtown Austin (2 miles to the park). Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice place in the Austin area!

We booked this duplex so we and our adult children could all stay together while attending a family wedding. It is such a nice and well kept home and the beds are so comfortable. I was impressed as it is one of the nicest places we have ever booked for vacations. We plan to come back again when we have more time to explore Austin and will book this duplex again.

Great spot in austin

Perfect spot near Austin's capital and restaurant district. Close enough to walk and plenty of space for a group.
